Only transfer of blame, cover-ups, and denial will an innocent consumer be receiving from this engineering firm when they screw up and ignore big problems with a building structure.

This company was hired by a timber frame company to engineer a timber frame for our home.

We then subsequently hired them to oversee the construction of our modest sized addition, and they were paid by the hour.

Not only did they entirely ignore obvious problems with the timber frame upon installation, but they never bothered to notify the homeowner, THEIR CLIENT, of the many structural problems that they were hired to protect us from.

Their attitude subsequent to being confronted on this issue was outright denial and blaming anyone else.

It was they who were paid to be the independent third party to make certain the our home was properly put together.

They consistently allowed huge structural issues to linger without notifying the homeowner to do something about it.

When we brought a different Engineering firm to look at the structure, they were clear that the problems should have been reported and then acted upon to be fixed. They stated that the structure would never pass code and that they were shocked any Engineer would let this happen.

Outrageous lack of professionalism, and lack of caring.

All third parties that we hired to look at the horrible structural problems asked the same question, "Where was DeStefano Associates to sound the alarm to the homeowner?"

Good question.

Bad business practices from this terrible company that seemed determined to cover their own a*s and to also align themselves a bit too firmly with a builder, timber company, or any other BUSINESS rather than working with a homeowner.

They are NOT a homeowner's advocate, as they promise to be.

Additionally, they are now advertising as "Green." Well, my home was the first "green" home that I had spent many years researching materials to be installed that were earth friendly.

They knew nothing about eco-friendly building or "Green" whatsoever when we hired them.

It is unbelievable how so many companies want to jump into the "green" movement but are all talk and very little knowledge.

Not acceptable.

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

We have been in business since 1981 and have thousands of satisfied clients. We try very hard to provide quality structural engineering services and to please our clients. The success of our company is largely due to repeat business from happy clients. But no matter how hard we try, every now and then we encounter an individual who is impossible to please. The woman who posted this somewhat mean spirited report about us is just such a person. It seems that she has posted ripoff reports about her contractors (she went through several on this small project), and the subcontractors that worked on her project. I can only conclude that she is an unhappy person and this is just an odd form of recreation for her. You can not judge a company by the rantings of one individual. If you really want to know what kind of company DeStefano & Chamberlain is, visit our website at www.dcstructural.com and do your own research. I am confident that you will find us to be a very reputable company. Jim DeStefano President
