Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This is to let the public know about how terrible and unprofessional this company is. From the top honchos to the managers they have they all need a lesson in common courtesy, professionalism & etiquette. For some reason these folks forget what real life is all about. They forget that life does have its ups and downs and that things do happen i.e, illnesses, taking care of a sick family member. They don't care whether you have all these happening in your life.

All they care about is for the worker to meet their sales per hour (SPH) quotas and to make up the hours they couldn't work because of them calling off. It's a cruel and selfish way to run a business. On a daily work day, you see workers confronting each other because of their customer being taken away by another worker to ring up the sale.

After being hired at this particular location 2 yrs ago. It was never mentioned to me that if I didn't make my SPH my hourly rate would be deducted by 10%!!! I found this out once I was working in my areas while other co-workers were discussing this topic among each other. Imagine 10%! That's almost a $1.00, which for some folks that make this their full time job can be almost 160.00 per month!! I have never heard of a company having a salary paid employees being deducted of pay because THE CUSTOMERS DON'T WANT TO BUY... OR THEY RETURN THE MERCHANDISE. Yes, if the customer returns the merchandise it counts against the worker's daily total. Making it EXTREMELY hard for the majority of the workers to meet those outrageous goals the managers set up. How in the world are you supposed to prevent for someone not to return merchandise?? That's impossible.

All the manager and upper manager want is $SALES$ AT ALL COST. To pride themselves as the A+ store, but yet they don't compensate those that made it possible. After all the effort of the worker at review time all they get is A PAY CUT, because the quota wasn't achieved, but yet the store made X amount more than last year!!! Sometimes the workers don't even go to lunch or on break because they are afraid of their sales being taken by another worker. I wish someone would investigate this company as it was done previously when records of customer's account number were left without shredding.

A good company keeps his workers happy and works with them. They like workers to stay with the company, someone that knows their products and the procedures, to be reliable. But this company is just the opposite. They want new workers so they can push them to their needs and wants. They don't train any one. What you learn is just by watching others handle their sales. Their benefits (What benefits?) are extremely high premiums and don't benefit anyone but the owner's pocket. The store manager/asst manager are both cruel, arrogant and cold. The employees walk by them and they hide their faces or turn their faces away so they don't have to say a simple "good morning" or "have a nice day".

After reading the previous reports on this company, I am so amazed that this business practices not just happen here in Cleveland, Ohio but in other stores, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, etc... making me think that its a common practice of the so called Dillards Team.

How is this a lawsuit?

Puhleeze. If you don't like the pay policy, get another retail job. According to the US Dept. of Labor, there's a high demand for retail workers, so you shouldn't have a problem. And how is this a lawsuit? Unless your pay turns out to fall below the Federal minimum wage, how is what they're doing illegal? Just because you don't like the policy doesn't make it illegal. Yes, it seems unfair. Yes, it seems a bit out of your control (such as when customers return items), so, if you don't like it, get another job. It's THAT simple. By the way, the retail industry is a hierarchy. There is defintiely a pecking order. Maybe you're not suited for retail...

Prepare a good Law Suit

#3Consumer Suggestion

Fri, July 14, 2006

Rosa: The Only way to get Dillards to properly treat their employees is to form a Class Action Suit against the Company. You may have read a comment that I made on anothers compalint. Answer, well I contacted an attorney, he did not give her the answer that she wanted to hear, so she gave up. First, have all your ducks in all row, which means, have your discovery prepared. Cut and paste all of the complaints on this site would be a good indication that you have a valid complaint. Also, Dillards is a large company, so I suggest that you contact a large Law Firm. It takes a Firm that has enough resources to present a case against a Large company like Dillards. Don't be disheartened if a firm turns you down. There is always someone out there who is looking to handle a case just like this. Just for the prestige. Next contact the local media and have them go under cover applying for a job at Dillards, so that they can document yours and others complaints. Dillards won't like to see themselves on 60 Minutes etc. The National exposure will hurt them emensely. Americans don't shop at sweat shops. Finally, don't be afraid of retaliation from Dillards. Federal Laws prevent employers from firing whistle blowers and you can be paid royally for your effort. Good Luck
