First I would like to say that I am another unsatisfied DB customer. I would like to address some of the comments comparing DB to Costco. When you shop at Costco you get to touch and feel the products before you buy them. When you shop at DB you shop from catalogues or the internet. Size, actual color, texture, weight, quality of construction etc are impossible to compare. If you are OK shopping for very high end items without ever actually seeing them until you have paid for them up front and they arrive then maybe the DB experience will work for you. Still don't know if you will save anything after the $4800 investment, however. And items such as TVs, appliances, etc are cheaper at the specialty stores and you can see what you are buying. The truth is not evident during the first and only high pressure visit to decide if you want to join. Does Costco give you chance at membership? Hmmm...

I am sorry that Santa had such a bad experience with Direct Buy. I have been a member for several years and have saved literally thousands of dollars. I don't know exactly what Santa was looking to buy, but I have bought furniture, lighting, bed sets, etc. and have saved thousands. I saved over four thousand dollars on one light fixture alone! I saved over one thousand dollars on a king size mattress set. And if you are looking for a real bargain, I saved over fifteen thousand dollars off suggested retail and eight thousand off store prices on my Master Bedroom set. I have found that with electronics the savings aren't as grand because you are one consumer purchasing a single item; whereas, big discount retailers buy in volume and get cheaper prices for the same item and can offer lower than suggested retail. But, all in all, I wouldn't give up my membership in Direct Buy for anyone. I save and have saved thousands. I think consumers need to know about my positive experience as well. Again, I'm sorry for Santa's bad experience. I know many others who have had great experiences as well.

You have saved one person from waisting their time on the 1 1/2hr sales pitch and the $4000 out of their pocket. I signed up to hear the pitch thinking the fee would be like Costco. I guess I was wrong and I wont be showing for that appointment I also found it interesting that one of the positive responses to you comment was a copy of a comment from 10 days ago. Makes me think Direct Buy is behind that response.

I wonder if you choose your Name? you may have however most people don't. If you choose to make this about me that is your right however if you get real this is not about me at all. The fact is Direct buy makes claims that are not true they cannot beat the prices of items that your everyday consumer would use. I also am a Member of Costco and Sams Club and yes I agree you can save alot of money there in fact this is where some of the prices I checked. That I found to be much cheaper were at these clubs. Yes a person is going to spend $4,000 or more in a life time in mark ups during there life. However at Direct Buy you are going to pay the $4000 up front and also on the back end. When you go to Direct buy to check them out ask them why they charge you the $4000.00 then add another 8% on top of all of there sales and if that is not enough they add shipping and then charge you a yearly fee (not just a Costco or Sams Club Fee) to keep your membership with them. Belive me I am glad to pay Costco and Sams Club for My memberships as I do save a great deal of Money with them. I am submitting this Information so the people who may be considering joining this club will have other information than the bull they give you when you are there. If you are really considering this make sure you take your checkbook with you because if you decide you are interested at all you will have to join right now or you may never come back this is right from there club. However if you choose to pay $400.00 for a $75.00 Toilet that is your choice. I have priced televisons, furniture, sewing machines, Bath room Items as I am in the middle of finishing my house. I have also checked out bedding, and bathing accesorys, I have yet to find anything there that I could not get somwhere else even the retail stores cheaper!! I would hope that you would look at all of the reports on this Web sight because I am not the first and I won't be the last to send comments on Direct Buy. Yes the choice is yours and I would not even try to stop you if this is what you want to do However I feel it my duty to worn the people out there that want to know about a company before they get into a trap. Whatever you dicide to do I wish you luck for the ones that want advise I hope this will at least give you an Insight of the Scam Direct buy is running. If I can save one person from falling pray to Direct buys Scams then I have saved one person from losing what may be there life savings. If this is not you fine if this helps you save your hard earned money then great. as you stated I cannot make the decision for you I can only tell you of my experiance with Direct buy and there are several others that have left feedback that have had the same experience I would hope that you would at least check out this information before you go to Direct buy. I wish you well no matter what you decide but for me this is nothing but a SCAM

i would like to know the items santa was talking about. sofa? cabinets? beds? watches? bedrooms set? blender? microwave? oven? camera? dishes? clock? tile? carpet? golf clubs? tv? speakers? phones? desk? dog bed? paintings? lighting? tub? i would like to know the margins and how the very from subject matter. i would think margins would change for subject matter. the comments made about this directbuy are from a man called santa. this holds little weight for me. i have seen the tv spots and will talk with my wife about the idea on setting up an appointment. membership cost. costco cost $55 and we get to buy milk and bulk items. i got a return on that investment with the first day shopping and 300 bucks later that day. it works and we save over the long run. if direct buy can save you on some major items with major savings. it will work for us. but to make my choice on a company by reading other neg feedback. well that alone is silly. i have not gone to direct buy in midvale but i may. i look at it like this. i buy. we all buy. this is america. the largest buyers in the world. the idea of my not spending 4000 or 5000 in mark up in my life time is plain stupid. if i can controll a little bit of that money and keep it after a return on my investment. then who is to say direct buy doesn't work. it could be that is it not for me or it could be it in not for everyone. but i will make up my own mind. i will. not santa. i am glad you stated his ideas on this. but that is all if it. if it is working we dont really spend the time to post comments about the great works of any company. we just enjoy and move on. so to find the neg is easy. when i was 7 i did not get a bike i wanted. did i call santa and post hatefull remarks about his chioce of what he thought i wanted. NO. i got over it and moved on with the crappy toys he left under the tree. santa has let a lot of us down. should we join together and cancel christmas. no because christmas is not about santa. nor is direct buy. its about my needs and your needs. lets just keep an open mind and worry about major things in life. direct buy is just a small part of what we do or dont do. ringing the bell of ignorance does not seem to help anyone but those you are simply simple. ps sorry for the typOs.

So why bother? Vague "it's a great deal if you are going to remodel" claims seem to be the only positive posts ever made. Besides, I enjoy "the thrill of the hunt", and 'getting a room right' can take several years. I just bought some "Iris" Tiffany lamps [Smithsonian, 40% off] and they go perfectly beautifully with our large green oriental rug (bought at auction in Cincinnati) and our club-style hunter green leather furniture that we have had for 7 years. The [pink and green] Jade lamps will now go into the bedroom when the Charleston Marquetry round tables [Smithsonian, 58% off] arrive. The Period Parquet table [Smithsonian, 72.5% off] in cherry and maple veneers can also be used as a 21" high coffee table. The Louis XVI footstools in hunter green croc leather [Smithsonian, 39% off] should be comfy places to rest one's feet while sitting in the club-style hunter green leather furniture. I doubt DirectBuy offers Smithsonian wares, and Smithsonian wares can be very tasteful....

Late last year, my parents told me they were going to move to Florida during the winter of 2007, and then told me they were leaving me with the house, I was very excited! I had seen the infomercials of Direct Buy on TV for a few weeks and was taken in by it like most people, but I knew it would give me a chance to remodel and renovate the house the way I wanted to and the huge savings mentioned was the more reason to do so. I was a bit skeptical though because all infomercials to me leave something important out of what they are preaching. I attended a session with my best friend in December 2006 because she knows more about home remodeling and was much sterner than I am when it comes to asking the right questions. The presentation was great and like every "good thing" a price tag is not far behind. The membership was about $4k which I thought was a little high for my budget, but I put into perspective the massive remodeling I would be doing within the next year or so; I'd actually be saving thousands on home improvement. I didn't have the $4k to give all at once so the salesperson explained some finance options, which worked well for me. My friend and I asked a lot of questions because when it comes to contracts and fine prints, I put on my "game face". Before I went to the presentation, my friend and I had several questions already outlined to ask. When going into something like this, I would say it's advisable to be prepared, it's just like buying a car. At the end of the presentation, I was a bit disappointed that I had to make a decision to join right there and couldn't possibly think it over and come back, but due to the privacy of the wholesalers and various people coming in and out with other intentions, I could understand. But it certainly is an investment; you have to give a little, to get a little. I've worked in retail in the past and sometimes you will find some things cheaper (deeply marked down) in some stores, but people need to understand that it's about quality not quantity, and who wants to wait around for major sales to go into jam packed malls? So far I haven't purchased anything, but the savings I've seen so far for estimates on the kitchen and bathroom are amazing! The bedroom set I've always wanted was listed with them, and it was $3000.00 less than what I saw it in the store for! I would really advise one to join Direct Buy if they have major things they want to do to their homes, but also do your research with your finances/budget; if an emergency occurred can you continue to pay, or you can just pay it in full and not have monthly payments as well as avoiding some finance charges. Increasing the value on one's property will create a far greater return on your home investment than the membership fee. In the end, no one wants to be bought so it's up to you (and your responsibility) to control the way the presentation goes as well as ask any questions if you have doubts. If something doesn't seem right to you in the end, follow your gut instinct, but it worked out for me.

I was going to seriously look into the Direct Buy company but after reading this comment and several other comments from my peers I will not even take step one. I would like the posters to know that there comments do help others make decisions. I would also like the dishonest companies to know that they are losing money due to these comments and they should either shape up or lose business.
