Direct Energy Tm Ripoff wannabees - fool them at their own crooked game! Dallas Texas
Direct Energy is hilarious and pitiful. They've outsourced their "collections" to Accenture, a UK company, if memory serves correctly. The point of this writing is, after backing themselves into a corner legally, Direct Energy makes childish attempts to collect fraudulent billing revenue via powerless telephone harrassment. And this is very low on the fun register for our days and nights at home with family and friends, right?
A word to the wise, and those who choose to soar above this harrassment strategy of Direct Energy's, and to those who have also built an excellent credit record: 1)Avoid this company if you have not engaged them and advise your family, friends, coworkers to do so, also; 2) Fire them if you have hired them, i.e., "shed yourselves of them, asap" as a corporate private investigator once advised me. Change your electric provider to another company, refuse to pay Direct Energy's illigitimate bills, enjoy a good laugh on them when they/their representatives call (and record it if you like to document the harrassment), then utilize creative credit repair strategies if and when they may place a negative mark on your credit report, if this is a priority or becomes desireable.
Unpaid utility bills, as well as unpaid medical bills are low in the proverbial pecking order amongst lenders, as there is so much discrepancy between what is legitimate and illegitimate billing therein. The "big three" to focus one's energy and resources on and thus preclude are: Bankruptcy, Mortgage Foreclosure; Unpaid Student Loans (as they are government backed.)
Happy living to honest consumers; happy knocking oneself into hard rock, Direct Energy and Accenture (or whomever you are).

Since 2002 you may choose which electric REP you want (if they service your area) for the best comparison of REPs go to powertochoose.com They list all of the companies in your area and their current rates. After 20 years with TXU ( and a few horrible months with Green Mountain) a friend of mine switched me to Stream Gas & Electric. I signed up for a 2 year contract that gives me the lowest rate. So far billing has been correct and timely. Check PUC website for companies that are troublesome. Jim Dallas, TX
