Agents have a very specific set of disclosures they're required to read to you if anything shows up on your bill. There are several things they are required to read you if they make any sort of changes to your account. These are on our internal website, updated as needed, and in most cases are required by law. If you went with a standalone DVR, such as TiVo, it would end up costing you over double the monthly fees DISH charges, not to mention buying more equipment and making it all work together. DVRs are the standard receivers these days, I don't think the $5.98 charge exists anymore. One receiver cannot run 4 TVs, the max on our newest receiver is 2. Don't know why a tech would tell you to sit in your bedroom and hit the up arrow key every 3 seconds for an hour and a half, unless you were just unbearable and he got off an hour later. We do have a standard protocol we have to follow, it's printed on our internal website (as well as quite a bit of it at tech.dishnetwork.com) to troubleshoot and return equipment as required. Have fun with Comcast. My parents have them. The only thing to change with them in the last 10 years (since before Comcast even bought the cable services in Colorado, used to be AT&T and US West before them) has been the price. Everything else has stayed the same - channel offerings, quality, speed of service. Oh, and what kind of extra programming do you have? Locals are extra on the $29.99 plan. Movie channels are extra. PPV is extra.
