DISH Network promised to respond within 48 hours. It has now been over 48 hours and still no response. I did get e-mails telling me that I didn't have got addresses for Dana Mcgowan and Al Gonzalez right away. Well, this morning I got an e-mail to redirect my correspondence: ---------------------message------------------ FROM: Ergen, Charlie DATE: Sunday, September 30, 2001 7:43 AM You have reached an invalid address. Please RESEND your message to: [email protected] ------------------------end------------------- I have resent the message.

I received a letter from DISH Network customer service. Their response is totally unacceptable. They confirmed that they are taking off the $119 installation charge, which should never have been made. Since the equipment was less than one year old it was still under warranty. I believe they hope most people won't look at their bill carefully. The other issue of taking off the charge which was promised in the first place was used as a justification for not providing additional compensation. I have wasted over two hours of my time because they decided to be difficult and I am not satisfied until more happens to compensate for that. Their apology is not acceptable. --------------------Response------------------- Dear Danny, Thank you for your email. I have reviewed the web site and your complaint that you have registered there. First of all, I would encourage you to contact us directly for resolution if you have a complaint with our customer service in the future. The company you did contact is an independent retailer and they do not have anything to do with this matter at all. Please understand that all DISH Network retailers are independent vendors and independent of DISH Network's control. We appreciate that you took the time to inform us that your billing statement was incorrect. I would like to apologize on behalf of the DISH Network for the way that your issue was handled by our employee. It is certainly not our policy to provide anything less than the best quality customer service level in our abilities. We take our customer service seriously and strive to be the best in our industry. Our customers are very important to us and we sincerely apologize for the service which you have received. There is no excuse for being inconsistent or insufficient to those that have made us what we are today-our customers! We appreciate that you have brought this to our attention. While we cannot discuss internal business practices with our customers please be advised that this will be addressed appropriately. We will be unable to grant you a credit for $325.00 for your inconvenience. I do show that your account has been credited $119.00 for a free service call, $35.99 for the Megamovie package and $26.71. Our supervisor, Gus, with whom you spoke to on September 27th, 2001 applied the necessary adjustments as per your request. For the inconvenience you have experienced Dish Network has already given you a total of $181.70. In order to keep our programming prices at a minimum we will be unable to offer you more compensation. Again, thank you for bringing this mistake to our attention and thank you for being a valued subscriber. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you, Bonnie C. Here is an e-mail just sent to the Executives at Echostar. I want everyone to know how they respond and how long it takes:
---------------------Message----------------------
Date: Saturday, September 29, 2001 10:02 AM
TO: [email protected] (President)
[email protected] (Vice-President)
[email protected] (Head, Customer Svc Dept.)
CC: [email protected] (Operations Support Mgr.)

Subject: Serious Customer Service Problems
I value my ability to receive television transmissions via your satellite service. Unfortunately, you do not value me as a customer and that makes me angry, since you take my money anyway. It is my understanding that Echostar owns (and don't play games with that word) DISHNET and DISH Networks. Is that true, or not?
If that is true, someone at DISHNET has threatened to sue me in a court of law, which is totally unfounded. You totally have no idea who you are dealing with. I am concerned that you try to bully others in this way. I don't know who is supposed to respond, but it took me an hour to look up these e-mail addresses. DISHNET responded within two hours and I have yet to hear anything from DISH Network. The latter promised to respond in 48 hours, so my request for satisfaction will have to be renegotiated after that time. You have 15 hours left. Here is the link to this complaint.

Thank you for the information to clear this mess up. This is truly interesting! I was instructed by ANDREA at Dish Network to use the DISHNET website to register my complaint.
I am curious upon which grounds you would file a lawsuit against me because, a) you have also responded in the form of a rebuttal on this website just 2 hours after my submittal, thus participating in the public display of this information, and b) I would think that any legal action would need to be taken against DISH Network because the confusion was caused by DISH Network employees.
Additionally, another customer service representative told me that Echostar Satellite Corporation owns both DISHNET and DISH Network. I appreciate knowing whether this is true or not and if not where the distinction lies. Incidentally, if you are both part of Echostar does that mean you will be suing yourself? This complaint was also sent to DISH NETWORK because I suspected a customer service shell game. By the way, great customer service tactic; threaten the customer.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:
Their email: [email protected]
Their name: Digital Satellite Connections / Dishnet.com
Their phone number: 352-465-4235
Their relationship to the company: Owner
Rebuttal:
Danny,
We are a web retailer for Dish Network. We do not of anything to do with the programming that you get from the satellite system. The programming that you get comes from Dish Network, not from us. You need to get the right company name. We are not the company you have falsely accused. If you look on your BILL it should tell you the right company you need to contact..There are many company with the name Dish_______??? I believe you could be a Dish Network Customer??? YOU need to direct your complainant to
the proper COMPANY before YOU have a LAWSUIT on your hands. We hope you fined the right company. I do hope that this Rip off report thing can be changed to the right company, before I have to take legal actions. I also would like to have a apology from you, and put it on this report. Because we value our customer.
Very Sincerely,
Digital Satellite Connections
