I made a warranty claim on my King size mattress that was showing signs of sagging and buckling on the sides. A maybe "refundable" $70 check had to be made out to Dixie Bedding Co and a warranty claim form with photos was submitted. Two weeks later an "independent" inspector showed up at my house to perform the inspection and on completion he informed me that the mattress and box springs (I had not mentioned the latter in my previous submission) needed to be warrantied out - "they are no good" were his exact words. I asked why, he said the spring coils had given out and this caused uneven weight on the mattress. I said since it's the one box spring then is that all they are going to replace and he answered that he would submit a report for both to be replaced - again, I cannot make this up. I asked for a copy of the report (now or later directly from him; get it in writing) and he told me he had to generate it and I should be hearing back from a Dixie Bedding Co rep to proceed with the warranty claim. I received a call today (06/15/2015) that was a 180 deg flip from what's mentioned above. A Dixie Bedding Co rep claimed that our bed frame was not providing the proper support to the box springs and the mattress and this is what caused its failure. The findings on the report were customer abuse. I have protection covers for both the box springs and mattress, never a spill and I am in the process of moving into a new home. This mattress had been fine and comfortable from when we got it (4-5yr now - 10 yr none prorated warranty) and it suddenly just started showing signs of sagging to when it completely buckled on one side. We are out $70 since this is not refundable if an inspection report finds against you. I have a bad feeling that this is their "modus operandi" and have denied many a claim in this fashion. The warranty process is obtuse at best; needing original receipts, original tags, photos, and report on bed frame etc. I don't know of anyone who would pay nearly $900 for a mattress and purposefully abuse it for a warranty claim down the line. Do they know how hard it is to move a King size bed and mattress to boot? The bedroom is on the 2nd floor and warranting it out would have made that the third move in and out in 4 years (2nd in three months) - watching it alone is exhausting let alone having to help make the move. Did the inspector lie to my face when he verbally told me one thing and they now claim the report explicitly mentions owner abuse (report is to be mailed out to me - that would contradict what was verbally said to me). I have no kids and I do not jump up and down on that bed. I am technically out $70 dollars to file a warranty claim (I believe included as part of the hurdles to place a warranty claim), would have had to pay S&H to process if they have ever honored a claim and now I have a huge side bulge on a buckling and failing King Size mattress with a bad box spring to boot? Overall >$1000 flush! I submitted a complaint with a local BBB agency and I am waiting to hear back from them. If all fails, small claims court.

"Dixie Bedding Co management has opted to honor my manufacturer's warranty as a one time goodwill courtesy and will replace the old set with an equal and comparable set (equal value and quality). They will swap these out at cost to them". My warranty is not voided and will continue on the new set.

An offer to settle the issue

After going back and forth, Dixie Bedding Co has offered to honor my warranty and replace the mattress and box springs. The Manufacturer's warranty will transfer to the new replacement mattress (of equal and comparable value and quality) and will continue for its remainder duration. The $70 paid to the "independent inspector" will not be refunded due to their original "report finding(s)" and I will be responsible for delivering the old mattress and box springs to them and picking up the new set. This agreement was reached with an understanding that I had to make this rebuttal under the original posting. I hope this settles the issue so we can all move on.

A resolution was suggested/offered

I was recently contacted by a representative from Dixie Bedding Co (I am opting not to disclose his/her job title). They offered to resolve my warranty claim as a good faith claim. This is a replacement of the defective mattress and box springs. My Manufacturer’s warranty will be un-voided and will continue for its scheduled 15 year period. They are however unhappy with this posting and would like for it to be rescinded as part of this resolution. I have contacted the owners of this site and this is as much as I can do (it seems). Hopefully it's a step in putting this matter to rest and getting the resolution I had sought out from the beginning. I guess I'll now have to wait and see how this unfolds; hopefully with the desired above end result.
