My G- pack was sent to them some time back in July or August and I have not received any payment for the items that I sent in.  I sent in a necklace, bracelet, a ring and some earrings.  All 10 carat gold, and cost me a fair bit of money over the years.  I initially contacted Dollars4Gold in September and was told that my gold had been evaluated and that a cheque in the amount of $18.35 was issued to me.  I stated that I had not received the cheque and asked what was the weight of the gold that had been submitted.  The reply was 6.1 grams of gold and the customer service representative said that I should wait a couple of days to see if the cheque arrived and contact them again if the cheque did not arrive because corporate office held back some cheques and had done a recent mass mailing.  I said that I would wait and contact them if I had not received my cheque.  Attempts to contact them during October and November were not successful and I tried again in December.  When I got hold of someone today, I was told that I had accepted the payment and that a new cheque was sent out on November 1st.  It has now been 4 months since I sent in the G-Pack.  I replied that I did not accept the payment since I have not received the cheque.  The customer service rep then said that she will have the manager look into this and listen to the call in September.  I had not been warned that they were taping the call, not that there is anything to hide.  When I asked for a copy of the call, I was told that they do not give copies of the call to the customer.  I hung up and called back and asked to speak with a manager.  I spoke with a supervisor named Tracey who once again said that I accepted the amount offered and I once again explained that I did not accept the amount.  Acceptance is tied to cashing the cheque and that I could not cash the cheque because I did not receive it.  I asked for my items to be returned, and Tracey informed me that the items were melted and no longer exists.  She claims that she will look into the matter with management and get back to me.  I still have not received payment and now cannot receive my items back.  My next step is to contact a lawyer friend of mine and explore my options.

If you'd told me 10 years ago that there would be a business that would send people and envelope and they would fill it with gold and send it back, I would have thought you were nuts.  Basically you send them valuable gold and hope they will send you a fair price in return.  Who does business that way?

I've never heard of anyone who has been satisfied with what they got.  Probably because these outfits pay around 7% of the melt value of the gold they receive.   If you deal with a local buyer, you'll know what the offer is before you sell and you'll have a chance to reject the offer and go elsewhere if you don't like it.
