Most of the Dollywood employees are 65 plus years old. They dress em up in long dresses, pants and long sleeve in humid, hot summers. They're already cranky enough by 60 or so. Throw in the long sleeves and a badge of authority with their name on it at a store and it's a recipe for meanness. Ever listen to the greeters at WalMart's front door? Nuff said. They're the only ones willing to accept Dollywood's low wages and work the choo-choo.

That clerk was a jerk. Certainly this was not the first time a parent has scooped candy up for a child. It sounds like it was a self-service situation. In most places it does not become theft or shoplifting until you either conceal it, consume it, or leave the premises without paying for it. Your husband did not conceal the candy, consume the candy, and you were still on the premises waiting for the clerk to accept payment for the candy. Your response sounds like your husband is ashamed. He should not be. That stupid clerk ought to be publicly flogged as he was the one out of line. I hope you have sent a letter to the management of Dollywood letting them know what happened. They owe you an apology.

I'll never be able to figure out what the actual draw to Dollywood is. I just can't see going on vacation in one of the most beautiful places on earth, but making the decision to go to Dollywood or anything else in Pigeon Forge rather than spending time in the beautiful Smokey Mountains which surround this area. Sound like you folks went a little overboard and got your feelings hurt. What was just a misunderstanding, you folks turned into a catastrophe. I can't believe people actually pay good money for season passes to Dollywood. Why? You said that Dollywood wasn't a "good place to go"......seems like it was judging from the fact that you and your family bought season passes. LOL
