AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! Everyone who works there is completely incompetent and only cares about taking your money.  After hurricane Sandy, my room was flooded floor to ceiling and I lost everything I owned (completely devastating and heartbreaking).  I had to live in this flooded, freezing cold apartment with no heat or electricity for a week because they were threatening to throw all of my stuff out before FEMA had a chance to assess the damage.  I received absolutely no compensation froxm the management company, even though I was told they would offer me something for my loss.  Even though I had renters insurance, the plan does not cover flooding.  I was completely screwed over and had to deal with everything on my own.

This property is located in flood zone A, something that they failed to tell me when the pending hurricane was coming (I'm pretty sure having a bedroom below ground level is illegal in flood zone A).  In an attempt to avoid flooding, they placed a table in front of my window, which later simply floated away while my room filled with water within minutes.

When I went down after the water subsided my door was swollen shut and the place began to grow mold.  I was fortunate to not be in the room while the flood occurred or I could have been stuck in there with bars on my one window.

It took them months to start fixing the place and they refused to keep me updated.  My wooden stairs were not replaced, which could mean there is still mold in them and a possibility that they can fall through.  When I requested that they hired someone to check for any signs of mold they refused and said "don't worry about it we got it all", even though I have asthma.

On top of going through this awful time, losing all of my irreplaceable belongings, and losing thousands of dollars, the company still found it appropriate to charge me a portion of my rent.  There was no way to live in the apartment during the months they were charging me; there was mold, a giant hole in the wall that let rats, squirrels and stray cats into the apartment.  There was animal poop all over, even in our food.  We then had a huge rat infestation all throughout the apartment, finding them in our food and cabinets.  Everything had to be thrown out.  I confronted Denise about paying this rent and they refused to help me and gave me a number for their "boss" who never answered my calls.

On top of this madness, they completely disrespect their tenants and disregard their lease.  In the lease it states that if there is damage to the apartment that deems it uninhabitable, a tenant does not have to pay rent.  They also would barge into the apartment, completely unannounced, even though in the lease it states they must give 24 hour notice before coming, and even then would not be allowed to just walk in without our permission.  I was in the shower one day when one of the workers unlocked the door and came in.  As a young woman, this completely traumatized me.  It was completely inappropriate.  They continued to just show up unannounced so I had to pay for new locks.

The first 4 months of living in this apartment, I persistently requested that they fix the door, which had been crow barred open from the tenants before us.  The door did not have a dead bolt and could easily have been broken into.

My experience in the city was an awful one because of these terrible, heartless people.  It makes me sad that there are people in this world that can care so little about other people.  Please do yourself a favor and avoid these people.  They will make your life a living hell.
