Dear Ken,
My name is Mara, and I'm the managing director here at Dorrance. I'm sorry our letter has upset you in any way or caused you concern. I'm unable to tell from your post how you feel we have harmed or "ripped you off," but as you took the time to post, you must believe we have done so. It is my sincere desire to address your concerns, and I'd be very happy if you could let me know exactly what we did to make you feel as if we have done you harm. While no one likes negative feedback, I see it as a chance to improve our publishing services, which have been offered to authors since 1920.
We have a long list of authors with whom we have worked who have been extremely pleased with the services we offer. We are not a commercial or trade publisher, but nor do we pretend to be, as is the case with some of our less-scrupulous peers. We try to be upfront with the publishing services we offer and what you can expect in return for our fees. Our services are not for everyone, and there are certainly firms available that offer printing services with digital communication for less of an investment. But for those authors who do not consider themselves do-it-yourself-ers, and who want the assistance of a company focused solely on book publication, we have been of good service. I personally have been working with such clients for more than two decades, and I'm proud of the work we perform and the great books we produce.
I look forward to your reply, Ken, and I appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns. You may also reach me directly at [email protected].
Best regards.
