I found the job posting online at monster.com which said it was looking for "entry-level, or recent grads" for advertising and marketing. In the ad, it states that many state and local sports team are represented by this company (Destroyers, Blue Jackets, Cincy Reds, Cleveland Indians, etc). I noticed that many of the search keywords listed on the ad had little or nothing to do with advertising; meaning that anyone who even searched for "construction" or "pharmacy" would find this job posting. I decided to apply for it anyway, it couldn't hurt.

I applied on a Monday afternoon, and received an email by Wednesday morning. I was on the my way to work so didn't have time to read the email in detail, but saw that they wanted to schedule an interview so I made a note to call them once I returned from work. Upon thinking about it more, I thought it was odd that I received an email as opposed to a phone call. Every interview I've ever been on has been arranged via phone. I looked at the email once I got home, and thought it sounded a bit automated. I just had a funny feeling about the company in general, so I decided to google it and this is the website I found.

Upon seeing various reports on this site for the same company under the name CAP Marketing, I googled the phone number that was given to me in the email, and it brought up several different names with the same number. I even tried looking up the websites for the Blue Jackets to see if there was any mention of their marketing or promotional firm on there, but to no avail. I even went to the Better Business Bureau's site to check any ratings or complaints on there; both CAP Marketing and DK Promotions are listed on the site with the same phone number, but neither has a rating or any comments listed.

I decided not to call for an interview seeing how the whole scenario just rubbed me the wrong way. I received a call that same day I got the email, around 6pm, which is a strange time seeing how many offices close this time of day. I immediately noticed the phone number as belonging to Dot the I, but chose to ignore it and see what the voicemail said. Surprising to me, there was no voicemail left, which led me to the conclusion that a legitimate company who really wanted to recruit people would likely have left a detailed message.

I am not saying this company is a complete hoax or scam as I don't know myself, but the whole thing just seemed a little suspicious to me. After reading the testimonials on here, I decided to let it be and just disappear.

I, too, had the same apprehension about Dot The I Promotions. I, however, did go in for an interview. Before I get into the details of what the interview process entailed I want to inform you of what the job postings listed. Under salary, it was stated that the pay would be anywhere between "$27,00-$38,000" yearly. As I will discuss later on, this is in fact NOT accurate. I went in at my scheduled time with 10 minutes to spare and waited 55 minutes before talking to the owner for the "preliminary screening". Meanwhile, while I was in the waiting area, the receptionist continued telling stories about her ex boyfriends and playing music that was very unprofessional. After speaking to the owner, he wanted me to come in for a "second interview/job shadowing". I came back in for the follow up and drove across town, following one of the account executives. We walked around and he tells me that the position is commission based. See above to understand why that was strange. He also told me that he thought it was a pyramid scam but that it's not. The whole experience was very odd to me. The numbers they gave me didn't add up and I certainly didn't appreciate the misleading ad showing that the salary was a set level only to find out it was a commission based job. I just thought I should share this information for any interested parties so they know what they are getting into.
