For some reason the heading is claiming that I am the owner of the business. I AM NOT, but I can't find the place to change it. I am a client of Dr. Ruskin's and Smith Ridge.
So, which is it? Torn trachea or anesthesia? In a Consumer Reports complaint the original poster said torn trachea. I am truly sorry for anyone losing their beloved pet under any circumstances but, really, teeth extraction is pretty routine and 10 years old is not old for a cat, even a Siamese.
Dr, Ruskin treated my precious Priscilla when she had cancer in her mouth and sinuses. She was wonderful and Priscilla received the best of care. She was supportive and responded to my emails and questions, even phone calls (without charge). She communicated with my regular vet (I live 2 hours away from SR so I have a local vet also) to coordinate the best care for my girl. When it came time to let my girl go, I think I had to comfort Dr. Ruskin more than she had to comfort me. Unfotunately, things DO sometimes go wrong during surgeries but I would return to Dr. Ruskin to care for an animal with absolutely no reservations.
Dr. Goldstien assisted with Priscilla's care along the way and well, the man just walks on water in my eyes. He has cared, through his associates and himself, for several of my animals and I have not one single complaint. Everyone from the staff at the desk to the associates and the amazing techs are wonderful. The enitre atmosphere at Smith Ridge is calm and peaceful. Animals that have "acted up" in other vets offices are calm and relaxed here.
Please do not base a decision as to whether to use Dr. Ruskin or Smith Ridge or not on one person's review (who can't get their story straight). She is an amazing, caring veterinarian and Smith Ridge is a phenomenal place to bring your pets.

I just googled the Smith Ridge Vet website to get the correct spelling of Dr. Ruskin's name in order to leave a review for her. I was shocked to see a report that is negative about her, and I'm truly sorry these people lost their beloved pet. It is never easy to lose a pet. Never.
Our experience (and our Goldendoodle's) has been completely opposite, and I think it's important for people to know that. We were impressed with Dr. Ruskin the first time we met her. She's caring, compassionate, competant, and thorough.
In fact, I'm house/cat sitting with my Goldendoodle in another state right now, and we had to visit an emergency vet center this weekend for him. NONE of their recommenations helped him, so I called Smithridge today to set up a phone consult with Dr. Ruskin. She recommended an over-the-counter option for him and it completely alleviated his issue, literally, within minutes. I can't tell you how grateful we are for her amazing care of our dog. He's resting easy for the first time in days because of her.
Our Goldendoodle is 9, but most people think he's 2 or 3, and that is a direct result of her holistic, and excellent veterinary care. Our dog has far fewer vet visits because she is so thorough, and I can't recommend her highly enough.
In our experience, the entire staff at SmithRidge is wonderful. I'm three states away from them right now, but I would not hesitate to drive an entire day to take our dog to Dr. Ruskin/SmithRidge, because in our experience they have high veterinary integrity. The experience we just had at an emergency vet clinic in New Hampshire -- not so much.
No one is perfect, and we all know that isn't possible for any of us. I have complete confidence that Dr. Ruskin will always do everything she can to give the best treatment to our dog, and any animal in her care.
