Dr. Mitchell E. Stashower rip-off! BEWARE of this Dr.'s Care. Misdiagnosis of skin cancer. Fairfax Virginia
Please Beware of this Doctor. He misdiagnosed my skin cancer even after three different visits. I worked for a Dermatologist for two years and I know what skin cancer looks like, and what the symptoms are and told him it was. He first ignored my complaint and the symptoms and would not listen to what i had suggested. I wanted a biopsy right away because it was growing fast. He did not do the biopsy for another 3 months and by that time it was three times as big, and had disfigured me. Both of the biopsies he read and reported the results.

I could not go to another dotcor because of my insurance and therefore had to wait until I was released from this doctor. When I went into another doctor of Dermotolgy in fairfax, he said you have cancer within 1 minute of seeing him, he took the biopsy, read it and I was scheduled for Cancer surgery within in minutes. I was scheduled within the week and I had an eight hour MOHS surgery and left me permanently disfigured for the rest of my life! I am very young and the disfiguring is devistating to me!

With no help or apology from Mitchell E Stashower I will have the plastic surgery needed, paid for by the military

The military has agreed to pay for the plastic surgery I need to see out of my eye, and to put my face back together with no help from the Doctor that misdiagnosed my skin cancer for a year - Dr. / LCDR US NAVY RETIRED Mitchell E Stashower from Fairfax Clinical Skin Center of Northern Virginia and Bethesda Naval Hospital. I have to wait for all the active duty personnal from the Wars to have their surgerys first and I agree to wait, but have yet to have an apology from this doctor or his staff. Please people if you think you have something wrong with you, and even though your insurance will not pay to go to another Doctor in a given time, please seek help from a second Doctor, if I had not, I would have lost my left eye! As it stands, I have no left eyebrow, my forehead has a scar 2 inches up and my eyelid almost does not close. The top bridge of my nose from one eye to the other is a 1/2 inch off center and to think, if he would only have listened to me the first time I went into his office. Doctor Stashower and I did not get along from the second I met him, and it just kept getting worse everytime I went to see him. The nurse in his office even called me to tell me that I did not have skin cancer (according to his reading of the biopsy) instead of him calling me directly. When the second doctor told me I had cancer and he set me up with the MOHS surgery he called Mitchell Stashower and told him it WAS fast growing Basal Cell Carcinoma and that he had me booked for the surgery within a week, THEN Dr. Stashower called me to find out what was going on. He said to contact him for any help, yet when I asked him for help in that very breath, he told me to ask the second doctor for any questions I had, and not him. Please rethink going to this Doctor.

Many lawyers in Fairfax area in Malpratice

There are many lawyers in the Fairfax area that specialize in Malpratice law, that do not demand a retainer to take on a case. I would suggest you immediately start contacting them, it sounds like you have a good case for malpractice against this doctor. Also you can report this doctor to the Virginia Medical Board, the complaint line is 1-800-533-1560. They will and do a complete investigation into this doctor. Best of luck.
