Alright here is my story. Bare with me here as im trying to give as many details about the situation as I can. I found a very good deal on a car that was at the dealership for 6 months. I went to Duluth Dodge to test drive it and it drove very nice but the brakes made a squealing noise. I told them I would buy the car for what they wanted if they replaced the drums in the back, they said yes. The manager of the dealership came over to me and said they would do it and thanked me for the sale (Mechanic's department approved after request). They were very friendly and kept thanking me. The car salesman kept saying that the former owner of the dealership gave them a bad name and they were trying to fix it (no proof they had a bad name, lived here all my life and never heard that).

Now onto the Car salesman (Don Gustafson): he clamed to have a bad back (appeal to sympathy) and was on disability for many years. But when he was "better". He went off disability so he wouldn't "use the system". He said he made more on disability than he did as a car salesman (in other words he really loves screwing people over). He then told me he used to be a alcoholic and when he sobered up and he couldn't stand being at home sober. But said he wanted to be on disability if he was still drinking (never mentioned his family once...ever). After the test drive was over his "wife" called him and so did his "kids", like 3 times during the sale. Now my mom came in to look at another vehicle at the same time and asked if she was my sister. My mom is 45 and im 24: REALLY? I know he was trying to be funny but that was his tactic the whole time. He said he didnt' care if I wanted a car or anyone else did. He kept saying he was different than all salesman and he would NEVER ever lie to anyone. BTW he put the windows down right away and turned the music on, how are you suppose to hear problems when the salesman does that? I give him credit that he can adapt to who is looking at a car, he used very bad language around me and my 2 friends but when my mom came in he was straight and narrow. This guy is a very good con-man. DO NOT TRUST HIM! My mistake was not getting the repair agreement in writting

They have a "no bait and switch policy" they won't list a vehicle for a lower price and then when you come in they won't raise it. My car booked for 17,000 (retail) and their car booked for 22,000 (retail). It it was listed for 17,500 because it was there for so long. They offered me  11,000 on trade and I said I want more because retail was way more. He told me if i'd wanted to compare retail to retail, he would go write up a new agreement "retail to retail" to show me how i'm getting such a great deal and how I'd get screwed retal to retail. He said if I wanted more than they'd want retail for it. I told them I was walking away unless they gave me 13,000 for it and they made me sign an agreement saying I'd buy it for their list price if they gave me 13,000. He came back and said 12,500. I took it because the car I was buying was listed really low.

Now onto the repair of the drums: I brought the car the next day to get it detailed (free when you buy a car from them) and the drums changed. Guess what?...8 hours later I picked the car up with NO drums changed and a car with dirt streaks all over it. Inside still the same as  when I gave it to them. I went to the dealership the NEXT day to talk to Don Gustafson and the Manager and they said they put in an order to get the drums changed and that I needed to get the car to them by 9am a few days later. The mechanic told me he was not authorized to replace them but would talk to the manager (DULUTH DODGE'S MECHANICS DEPARTMENT), 7 hours later I got a call that it was done. I went to pick it up and the report said no noise was reported after a test drive. I pulled out of the dealership and the brakes still made the same noise. I was too pissed to even go back there.

Now I don't know if it was a communication break down but I went in 3 times to get it resolved and in the end nothing got fixed and ended up with a dirty car. I felt very stupid and embarrassed for falling for it but didn't get screwed over in my purchase. You're better off going to the cities for a car. They sell enough cars in the twin cities to not care about commission nor lie to you to get you as they do up here.

THESE PEOPLE'R NOT HONEST IN SALES! THEY SELL AND FORGET (LIKE THE REST OF FREEWAY AUTO)!
