Recently, a friend and i were researching a used car purchase. he was drawn in by an ad for earnhardts ford on a first time buyer program. The program proclaimed that no one would be refused credit, witch gave him the confidence to allow a credit check over the phone. the credit department requested paystubs, tax returns, etc. this required a trip to the tempe location of earnhardts ford.as a mechanic and car efficianado my friend called and requested that i come along to inspect the prospective vehicles.

as we entered the establishment i noticed the used car department to be less than adequite some thirty or so vehicles none of whitch matched the criteria of the intended purchaser. we started looking for a used pickup, half ton, anything but white. simple peramiters, but our salesmen seemed to know what we wanted more than we did. he became adgitated that we were not impressed with the selection and refered us to his manager. with a slightly better demenor, he ussured us around the lot showing us more overpriced unwanted vehicles.I expressed my intention to leave. We couldn't, the paystubs and tax ruturns were now property of the credit department.

After about an hour of this we were more than ready to leave when we were escorted to the next run around. we requested the manager to retrieve the documents so we could exit the premissis.he never returned, half an hour later the next salesmen came over, both of us were extremly adjitated by this point and again we requested the documents. ignoring our pleas, he wanted to show us more trucks, new ones.again repeating that nothing on the lot even vaigly resembled what we were looking for and we wished to leave with the documents. once again the salesmen left and tried to send over another ,twenty minutes later.

By this time we were standing by the open door to the credit office and searching for the face that originly took the stubs, who was nowhere insight! Then the credit manager came out holding the prize. He became belligerant, at 6'5",with strong arm tactics, he waved the papers in the air with a stern voice claiming i was ruining my friends credit.

Tring to start a fight in the dealership lobby even with customers all around. my friend at 6'4" had to take the documents back from him .Three hour ordeal when we should have been out of there in fifteen minutes.Dont ever go to earnhardts, they prey on the buyer who feels no other option. once your in the door they will do any thing to keep you from leaving
