FORMERLY Known AS the FOLLOWING :

blackbird industries, oneoutboard, a1outboard, outboardrebuilder

The owners name is MIKE DeMAYO they reside in West Sunbury PA

They operate a business that CLAIMS to offer full rebuilds on marine outbaords.

There are years of problems with these vendors. I unfortunately did not do my research prior to sending them $7000 for a moter that they claimed was completely rebuilt from top to bottom. The facts couldnt be farther from the truth !!

My motor ran for exactly 21 hours after installation albeith poorly. Always exhibited a weird noice and what i would describe as a harmonic noise that i could hear and feel. I wanted my dealer to look at it. When it was finally taken to the dealer local to me they discovered the following: Only one piston appeared to be new and the head displayed cross hatching indicative of a fresh hone job. The other 5 cylinders showed considerable wear and scoring that the master mechanic said was a result of a prevous overheat.

The leakdown test revealed that two valves were leaking and the cylinder heads were warped from overheat.

There was a repair on the bloack that appeared to be jb weld exoxy or something similar to repair a hole in the block. This repair was freshly painted over as was the entire block.

One of the two thermostats were not even installed. The cylinder head and block anodes were completely eaten away.

We removed the powerhead and discovered that the incorrect gasket material was used they globbed a bunch of gasket seal on either a reused gasket or the incorrect one to obtain a seal.

There was a bunch of sludge in the oil pan.

Lower unit prop shaft seal was leaking. Oil was milky from water intrusion and elevated level of metal particles noted. Water pump housing was melted and discolored from what i would assume was previous overheat damage. Bolts were however were new with fresh grease, impeller appeared new however metal weat housing was worn and cracked.

ECM on motor was showing approximately 450 hours however dealer noted that wear patterns on the cylinder heads and the internal engine appeared to show significantly more hours. Dealer noted that the motor appeared to have what he explained was similar to commercially operated boats however that is speculation.

Attempted to rectify the situation and the demayos offered no help. Their argument twas that the second the dealer touched the boat their responsibility ended. 110% fraud

Motor was never rebuilt to anywhere near the standard they represent. Most ironically we downloaded the data from the ecm and i had never operated the boat over 4200 rpm and there was no faults for overheat or anything of the sort.

Estimate to replace the powerhead with factory new and replace the lower unit and water pump assembly is over $11,000

I was completely ripped off by this company. I started doing some research and found dozens of internet threads that almost explained my story to a T.. Unbelievable !! Their different names are blackbird industries, one outboard, A1outboard, outboard rebuilder

I cant afford to fix my boat now and am heart broken. I trusted them they ripped me and my family off.

Almost forgot the oil seals around the driveshaft were leaking this was a result of the driveshaft eating away at the seals around the oil pump. This was never replaced with what the industry calls a speedy sleeve. They stated the oil pump gets replaced it is obvious that this one was not.
