We made an agreement with Amy at Express Van Lines to move our possessions from Washington, DC to Altamonte Springs, FL. The amount was to be $1317. The amount was reconfirmed upon their arrival and inspection.

The contract was signed after the movers stated that only the price of containers would be added. However before handing us a copy of the contract an additional amount of $2182.50 was added.

AMY was IMMEDIATELY contacted. she said that we could cancel (paying for time) and I agreed. She asked to speak to the drivers, who after their conversation, raced to their truck and drove off with our possessions. Again, Amy was called and in response she laughed and said my wife "needed a husband to teach her a lesson and manners."

Since this incident she has called a few different times, asking for cash of various amounts. Most Recently, Feb 12, 2002, Amy called saying we would need to overnight $1500.00 in cash and pay the driver and additional $1500 upon their arrival.

If this condition was not met ALL ITEMS WOULD BE SOLD!!!!!!!! This was to happen on February 18, 2002. Several attempts were made to contact Amy to no avail. We have no idea if our possesions still exist.

Mark,

Amy's real name is Ronit Mantoza. She and her husband, Daniel Mantoza were arrested on February 13 of this year and charged with racketeering. I don't know the name of the Assistant District Attorney who is handling the case but I will try to find out and let you know. Many of the people who were in the process of moving when Eilid's owners were arrested have been trying to get their goods back.

in the meantime, you might want to call the New York office of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration: 212 668-2130. I know what you're going through; I had a similar experience with Eilid and "Amy" last August. I sincerely hope this helps and that you're able to get your things back.
