Electronic Minimart PTE Liars and Con Men ripoff Singapore
We bought a camera in this shop. We knew which one we wanted and knew the price. their price wasn't really a great one but we were on our honeymoon so bought the camera so we could take some great shots. After buying the camera they gave us the camera but would not give us the extra's straight away and insisted on showing us a better camera. They took pictures with both cameras and told us the 'better' camera (a ricoh caplio r30) was so new it wasn't out in the UK yet and that with the better optics and CCD screen the images were better.
In hindsight I believe he fiddled with the monitor so that the new camera presented pictures better than the old one. Regardless he told us that the new camera was much more expensive but he will give us a 1GB memory card (we were still waiting for our memory card for the original camera), and a case. In the end we ended up paying more for a lesser camera. They lied about the camera and kept us there by holding back our memory card.
Don't trust these people, if you know what you want then fine. But don't let them hassle you once you have your camera and don't trust what they say. They will lie about the faults with your chosen camera, they told us we couldn't get spare cables (i didn't believe that one though). They told us the optics in the new camera were the best on the market (they are not), they also told us the ccd noise was better on the ricoh than on the casio (it's not).
