Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This is a complaint against SOME of the collection agents more than the bank itself, besides the fact that the bank allows people to be treated like crap when IT IS NOT ALWAYS WARRANTED.

I owe Cross Country Bank money that I fully intend to pay and will pay when I am able. However, I absolutely refuse to be called up at my own home whether I owe them money or not and be treated with anything but a polite, professional manner.

I realize that any type of career in collections is a frustrating job full of defensive people with attitude flying all over the place that are not at all pleased to hear the sound of your voice from the minute they pick up the phone, but there are actually a few of us that are honest and dependable though it may take some time to pay up.

I was approved for an unsecured gold visa card, I payed my activation/account opening fee of $35.00 using my mother-in-laws checking account with permission of course, and received my card soon after. I unexpectedly lost my job after only a couple of months of having my card.

I had signed up for the CAP insurance but didn't realize until yet another call after approx. 2 months of not making my payments that the insurance would cover loss of a job. She was very pleasant as she proceeded to give me the number to call for the insurance app. to be sent to me (It would take 2-4 weeks).

This was back in August??. I called for the app. and even though I had explained to every collection agent that called EVERY DAY sometimes more than once a day that I was waiting for the app., they continued to call and call! I received the application about a month and a half ago (end of September) and I explained that I had just received it to another agent that had called. He proceeded to tell me that I would have to make a payment of more than 2 times my actual payment amount (which I could not afford) before the insurance would even consider helping me, and none of the representatives you talk to give you the same info.

From then until now a collections agent for CCB calls my house I KID YOU NOT between 3 and 5 times a day, everyday! About 2 weeks ago a male CCB representitive called. My husband answered but he refused to identify himself (o-kay, fine, whatever!). When I came to the phone he was very rude right from the start. He kept trying to persuade me into setting a payment date with my mother-in-laws checking account (without her consent) while I am trying to be very honest and say "Hey, I don't want to make a promise that I can't keep!"

I said no, that I couldn't use her checking account without consulting her. So then in a very rude and snotty voice he asked me how we pay our bills if neither myself nor my husband have checking accounts as if I was lying. Would lying about having a checking account make me not owe the money? Why lie??? I replied that it was none of his business how we pay our bills. Then he began to raise his voice while telling me that it was his business since I owe them x amount of dollars. I told him that when someone from CCB wanted to call me that wasn't such an a*s, then I would be willing to talk.

I'm not at all proud of what I have done to my credit years ago and I am quite honestly embarrassed that I have yet another blemish from this (not purposefully). But just because I have bad credit does not mean I am a low life that doesn't deserve to be treated with manners and respect like I treat them. Now I'm not saying that I haven't gotten really annoyed with the calls, but 5 times a day is a little rediculous and I've never treated any of them like he treated me.

Thank You

Angie
