Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Several years ago we changed our home phone, internet, long distance and wireless service to Embarq for one of there "bundles"

By chance a relative had gone into their local Henderson office to replace a broken wireless phone and the staff announced "no reason to sell you one as Embarq is getting out of the wirless business they just haven't announced it yet" That was in early June 2008, to date there still has not been any announcement.

I decided this month to switch to Sprint PCS on a great package for two phones. For one solid week 7 full days Sprint, Embarq and many many phone calls from me attempted to port over my two cell phone numbers for the new service. One line did port fairly easy but the main cell number on the account never did. Sprint was on top of it, Embarq we found out after the 7th day of trying and getting the same request over and over cancelled my port without notifying me or Sprint they were doing so.

DO ANY OF YOU OUT THERE REALIZE every phone company charges a minimal fee per phone line for a portability cost. Sprint is .15 per month per line, Embarq would never tell me. This enables us to keep our numbers. I was told mine was a difficulity of porting Sprint to Sprint. Now wait I said I was with Embarq changing to Sprint, one would think if I wasn't changing companies porting a number should be easy.

Embarq never gave a reason for cancelling the port, never tried to thank us for any business we had with them over the last several years and promptly cancelled the last number with them. The customer service with Embarq is extremely bad, Sprint at least is trying. The FCC requires the portability from these big companies not only to help us the consumer but because we are paying for it monthly.

If this has happened to you file a complaint with the FCC even if there is no money involved. The last week has been a dark nightmare trying to convience customer service to do what they are being paid for nothing more and nothing less. They don't really care=-their phones work and I am sure every employee of Embarq easily got their cell phones ported over for the service.
