To whom it may concern,

I had a Getsmart Visa and a Providian Mastercard. They went way up on the interest and I closed both cards out. Before I knew it I was getting bills from EMERGE saying they had bought the acct. from Providian. tHEY WENT UP TO 29.99% INTEREST AND i CALLED AND TOLD THEM IF THEY DIDN'T LOWER THE RATE that I was going to quit paying, since I had never had an acct. with, therefore,I had no CONTRACT to payany certain amt.

I called Brighton Credit Management(another RIPOFF) in Florida and they made an agreement with emerge for me to start paying $103/mo.(for emerge)and $111/mo.(for Providian). I paid for over two and one-half years, many times my account was never credited with my payment. Brighton said that they had sent it eft. I was also told by Brighton, at the beginning, that this would not hurt my credit,but, it would help it.

It did hurt my credit rating. After Emerge agreed to lower the interest to 18.00%, I kept payingthe agreed $114/mo which incl. a fee for brighton, I borrowed money from another company to pay off the Providian acct. Also, after emerge agreed to a payment of $114/mo Compucredit, which was handling the calls for emerge,agreed to the $114/mo and stated that the min.monthly payment woud not go up. Now after four months they sent me a bill wit a minimum payment of $150/mo. They are also threatening to charge my acct. with late charges if I don't pay it.

I am a disabled american veteran of the vietnam war and I am on a fixed income. I can't pay that.

WHAT CAN I DO????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
