I was told the car had not been in an accident. It had in fact been in an accident. I do not know the extent of the damage or the safety of the car. I do not believe it has the structural integrity that it would have if it had not been in a prior accident.

On 17 August 2015, myself and a friend went to Emmons Motor Company with the intent to purchase the 2015 Chevrolet Impala. We did a test drive and checked the car out. It seemed to be fine. I choose not to get a mechanical inspection since the car still had 28,117 miles or 24 months manufacturer warranty asked Meaghan Carver the sales person that was helping us if the car had ever been in any accidents. She said "let me go check". She went to a back office and came back out with the car fax report and said "No, the car had not been in any accidents". I purchased the car on 17 August 2015.

About 7 days later I had problems getting the trunk closed. On 31 August I dropped the car off at the Chevrolet dealership to have it looked at. They informed me that the problem was due to a previous collision. They pointed out to me that the trunk had been replaced and was missing the Chevrolet emblem. They lifted the black plastic piece in the trunk and you could see the damage that was there from the accident. (see pictures)

On September 2nd I emailed the general manager Gary Emmons with my complaint (never got a response). I also called the office and talked with Alan Emmons who said he was an owner of the business. I told Alan I wanted my car back and I wanted them to take their car back. Alan said "well its not that easy". He told me there was no frame damage to the Impala. He said he would take the car to A.C. Collins Ford and have it inspected for frame damage. He said if it had frame damage, I could pick any other car on his lot. If it did not have frame damage then I would have to pay him $150 for the inspection fee. I told him I didn't want to do that. I was frustrated with the way Alan was treating me. He said that I would need to wait until 8 September when his brother Carlton Emmons was back from out of town. I had my friend call back and talk to Alan that same day. During that conversation Alan told my friend that the car retailed at $30,000 and that the price was only $26,000 due to the previous damage. Alan told my friend that I could exchange the car on Tuesday, 8 September when Carlton came back to town.

I went to Emmons Motor Company on 8 Sept 2015 again with my friend. Neither Carlton or Alan where there as they said they would be. I worked with David Carver the sales manager. I checked out another car which was comparable to the Impala but it was $2,000 more. I paid $100 to have the car inspected. When we went to do the exchange, I realized I was just there buying another car. Paying all the same registration, license and inspection fees on top of the $2,000. David was not willing to compromise on anything. David said I could leave the Impala and they would fix it, so I left the car there and they gave me a loaner car. I picked the car back up on 22 Sept. 2015. I would never had made the purchase had they told me the car had been in an accident.
