Empire Today told me that I would have my carpets installed on Friday January 19, 2007. As a result I had everything in my house, except a few large furniture items, moved to the two rooms where work was not to be done. The kitchen and a back room.

01-19-07 The installer arrived at 0934 to start work. After walking in the house he said that he was not going to move the big furniture, as it was not his job. I showed him my contract, which stated "Empire to move furniture out and back in". He said it didn't matter because a slight drizzle started out side and he couldn't do the carpet anyway, and left. I then called the local office and they said he would be back tomorrow between 0800 and 1000.

01-20-07 The installer called my wife at 0930 and said he would not be coming do to slight sprinkles. She asked him if the sprinkles stopped by noon would he come back to finish, he said no problem. My wife called him at 1130, after the sun had been shinning quite a bit and the driveway was dry, and asked him to come back. He said he was busy and would do it tomorrow at 0730 sharp. The local office was closed so we called the 800# and explained the situation to them. They said the installer was not following company policy but didn't know what else to do as the local office was closed.

01-21-07 The installer showed up at 0751, twenty minutes late, and proceeded to rip up my old carpet. At 0815 it started to drizzle so the installer said he was leaving. I told him he needed to finish the carpet as he removed my old carpet leaving tack strips exposed all in my house. He said no and he would come back tomorrow. I proceeded to call my sales man and told him of the situation. He was not able to do anything as "everyone shuts off their cell phone on the weekend".

01-22-07 I called the local office at 0744. I spoke with Beth and advised her that I needed a $1992.00 credit applied to my account before the contract is done and billed. She stated that she was not authorized to do such an amount and would have someone else call me back. I left her my cellular phone number. The installers came at 0935 and proceeded to finish my installation.

As of 01-27-07 I have no return phone call from J. Henry, the person authorized to give me my credit, despite numerous messages left.

After sleeping on the floor of my house for 3 days, living in only a small section of my house for 3 days, having to eat out for the 3 days, loss of sleep, stress, and my 6 year old son stepping on a tack strip, PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not use Empire Today to perform any work on your home. Don't put your family through what we went through by using them.

I have been contacted by the company and have been offered compensation. I thank Rip-Off Report.com. Had I not used this web site and the BBB I feel as though my complaint would not have been resolved.

i dont think i would use your company after reading this report. then saying that it was resolved but no details for us readers to determin if it was realy delt with or not. poor customer service all the way around.
