Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In 2010, I was sold an energy package by Energy Research Group including storm windows, insulation, etc., totally just under $8,000. I was promised rebates from the federal government, the state, the county, the utilities company and Energy Research Group itself. These promised rebates amounted to upwards of several hundreds of dollars, possibly over a thousand depending on the amount of verification I was to have submitted.

NOTE:  This was NOT Energy Resource Center, which is a legitimate company with a very similar name.

It was only later that I found that the promised rebates had long since been cancelled (YEARS ago) by all the government entities and the utility company and ERG itself made the rebate process so complicated and difficult that it was impossible to do since they refused documentation until I had gathered a year's worth of utility bills after first insisting that they be sent in monthly by fax. By then the company was out of business and in fact is on the books as having opened in 2006 and closed in 2008--so it wasn't even legally in business when they contracted to install my energy package.  Thus, the lifetime warranties are meaningless.

The company is now completely out of business and their phone is disconnected.  They posted a notice on their website blaming this closure on the slowdown of the housing market.  Now I find out that they are simply doing business under another name--Thermal Advantage-- in another city  with the same principals in charge--Larry and another man with the same last name, Applehans--and they seem to be having the same complaints of misrepresentation.  Their salesman, Roger Michaelson, also represented that they had a "AAA" rating with the Better Business Bureau and showed me documents that supposedly reflected this but now I find out that they never had any BBB rating at all.
