I was involved in an automobile accident with my personal vehicle. I have auto rental coverage on my auto insurance policy, which covers a rental for $30.00 a day. I rented a car from Enterprise, Mineola NY office. I was immediately displeased, the car was an old, obviously abused Kia, with the airbag light lit up on the dashboard. I was told that was the only car they had. Unbelievable. I told them I was going to have lunch, I would be back, I would not drive this car for any length of time. After lunch, I went back, and the obviously irritated manager Anthony, switched the car for a Ford 500. Okay, Fine.

I drove the Ford for a few days. I stopped at a bank to make my weekly deposit. I came out to a Ford 500 that wouldn't start. Dead battery, or some other electrical mishap. Of course, Mineola Enterprise is only open until 12:00 noon on Saturdays, this was about 1:00. I called the 800 number, and they sent to me a AAA towtruck to give me a "jump". How nice. Got the car started, and I was on my way to Laguardia Airport Enterprise (the girl on the 800 line suggested this). Broken down again, the electrical again failed, this time on the side of the Grand Central Parkway, a very busy interchange here in New York. I found myself flagging down people for help, a "jump" if God was with me that day. A pleasant elderly man finally came to my rescue.

I got the Ford to the airport where it died again as I shifted to park. Another hassle waited for me, the cars they offered me looked as if they were lined up waiting for the tow truck to take THEM to the junk yard. Absurd. They finally got me a Chevrolet Impala, which in appearance, looked to be trustworthy. I was on my way, although my Saturday was ruined and wasted.

I spoke to Anthony that following Monday. Apologetic as he was, there was not much he was able to "do". He said he would not charge me the tax which I would otherwise be responsible for. I received my American Express statement, and you guessed it, the charge is there. I called again. And was promised that my account would be credited. The next statement is here, NO CREDIT! I have called American Express to dispute this charge, which is $36.79. I can't imagine when Anthony is planning to get to this credit! It doesn't look to me that he ever planned on doing it at all.

What a HORRIBLE experience, I hope I never have another auto accident for this reason alone! They lie, and they rent unrelieable cars, and they dont know what they are doing.

The story continues. Three weeks or so after returning the car, I recieve a call from their local office AT MY JOB. Yes, they called me at work. Now, their story is that they "discovered" damage. The damage that was "discovered" consisted of: a pushed in front bumper on passanger side, smashed in fender, and a passanger door which was also damaged and would not open. This to me seems a spiteful retaliatory act, probably put into motion by the manager Anthony. I have been in contact with corporate headquarters throughout all of this, as well as the better business buearu, and I explained to them that this has gone way too far, and that I consider calls at work telling me that I will be responsible for this damage that I did'nt do, and does'nt exist, harrassing. I quickly recieved another call (not at work this time!) that the damage was found to be done previously, and I would not be held liable. Funny, if the damage was there, wouldnt I have seen a near totaled front end of this car at some point? Do you think I would have driven away with it? Enterprise is a corporation run by people who are spiteful and use scare tactics to try to quiet you when you have a problem. Add to these disgraceful ways that they have unreliable cars prone to leave you standed, and you have an absolute dredful and unforgettable experience.
