Due to an accident, I ended up with a rental from enterprise at the airport in San Antonio. After a couple of weeks my vehicle was ready and my wife and I dropped the rental off. When we arrived home, we found that we had forgotten the garage door open on the visor. I called them up and spoke with the women at the counter. She said yes they had it and they would keep it for us. Early the next morning I arrive at the airport to pick up the opener. No opener, no record of the open. Some chicken**** made off with it. Called the owner. He disavowed any knowledge of the problem and said his employees would never do such a thing. Have never used enterprise since.

First of all, why did you turn in a rental car that you weren't paying for??? Even if you didn't need it for a few days, why are you worried about it? Didn't you realize that closing a contract that was set-up with your insurance company and then trying to re-open it later would cause a problem???? And you freaked out about a deposit when you were given an expensive car to drive?? Anyway, the point of this post is to read what you are signing! If the employee that you were working with tricked you in any way I am sorry for that. It is, however, your responsibility to read what you are signing. As was previously stated there are boxed to "decline" and "accept" our protection - and both are labled clearly. ALSO, it says right on the contract what the daily cost of the rental is. Guess you should have read that, because if they told you differen than what was on the contract you could have pointed it out and they would have had to change it as this is a legally binding contract. Also, being late and too tired is no excuse not to pay attention to someone when they are going over your charges with you. They do it for a reason, so you can dispute anything that doesn't seem right at that time. Nothing pisses me off more than someone who claims they didn't know what they were signing...they can read as well as I can and if they can't then maybe they should have someone help them read the contract. NEXT TIME READ WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING!

Dave from NC It's really scary that someone who is spewing contract law doesn't even know what the correct term is. It's "legally binding," not "legally abiding." Sheesh.

Even though i would never promote deceiving a customer you have to read the contract. In large letters in the box you innitial it says "ACCEPT" in one and "DENY" in the other. They are easy to read to deter what they did to you. Once you initialed that it is a legally abiding contract. As for having to put a deposit down this is common even if there is already a "direct bill" set up with your insurance company. It covers incidentals such as gas, damage, or is you keep the car longer than the insurance company is going to pay for. The majority of our 90 day bad debt was people keeping the car longer than the insurance company was paying for AFTER we notified the customer. The customer always said "No they will pay for everything!" Well we are the middle man and have to protect our interest also In this case it sounds like there was no "direct bill" set up yet which is AT NO FAULT to Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Plus they would have no clue as to the amount of rental coverage you carry, whether it is $15/day $450 MAX or $30/day 900 MAX. Sounds like you went over your limits and got mad at Enterprise because of you not checking things My suggestion is to do some more research on your policy BEFORE you get a service that someone else is going to pay for and also read what you are signing.
