ESBI/United Tel fraudulantly charging Verizon customers for their internet music downloads.
When paying my recent Verizon phone bill, I realized that it was a bit higher than usual. That's when I noticed a charge of $14.95 made to my bill by ESBI. I called the number for ESBI that was on my phone bill and discovered that ESBI is a billing company for United Tel, an internet music download site.
After spending 15 minutes speaking with a David H, I was told that I had ordered United Tel's internet music download service through a pop up banner on my computer. He then wanted to verify my email address and birthdate, neither of which were even close to being correct. I then realized that this was some sort of a scam. Especially when they had my email address listed as my first initial and my last name--couldn't they have been more creative!!!!!
I made a statement to David that I felt that the company that he was working for was committing some sort of fraud and wanted to speak with a supervisor. He did not, in any way shape or form, want to switch me to a supervisor. Wonder why??? Perhaps because this is the type of phone call that they get daily and are supposed to handle on their own???? He kept stating and restating that he credited my phone bill and that that should be enough. Well no, it wasn't!!!!
I finally got to a supervisor, and Diane P was just more of the same. She stated over and over again how United Tel's customers just love there service and that since I was credited for the incorrect charge, what more can she do. How about stop pulling this on so many other people in the country.
After the phone call, I searched the internet for ESBI. I didn't have to search far. I immediately found tons of reports on the fraud that they are committing.
So who is more to blame? ESBI? United Tel??? United Tel is surely aware of the bad activities of ESBI.
Here is United Tel's address and phone: 274 N Goodman, Ste A 302, Rochester, NY 14607; 18882953724 if anyone else is having issues.
