There's a sucker born every minute. You're darned well going to have to pay back that money! That was a legitimate check but they've put a stop payment on it. Anyone who falls for these too-good-to-be-true scams deserves what they get! What did you think? Your long lost Uncle Elmer died and left you the money?

I hope you didn't send the money. You'll need it to pay back your bank once the check is returned. If your bank eats the fraud, instead of taking the money away from you, it will be a nice gesture on their part. They are not legally responsible. You need to file with your police. Quickly, so that maybe they can track the criminals. There are NO lotteries in Canada that can be won by non-Canadians. In Canada, lottery winnings are not subject to tax. Good luck.
