Even will promise you to even your pay but this isn't true.

They will start taking out a weekly service fee from your account!

They charge me $114 every week! The catch is that the service fee comes in after 6 months of singing up.

And you can't cancel your service! They don't respond to email o messages, after finally I got to talk to someone through their in-app messaging, and I asked them to cancel my service they just ended the conversation and told me to email them. For the email no response! I did some research and turns out that they aren't even licensed to operate in the state of California.

They are operating an unlicensed Payday Loan SCAM! They'll charge you hidden fees and say that you agreed to it when signed up. They will change the terms and conditions once you become a user.

This is ridicolous I can't believe they can do this! They must be prosecuted for illegal lending and money laundering.

You better be aware and not do business with them!

They are a new company but people start to complain, they won't be in business for long.

Clarifying How Even Works

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, May 04, 2016

I'm one of the founders of Even, and I wanted to help address any confusion about how Even works. If you have any questions about what I write here, you can reach our team in the in-app chat, or via email at [email protected]. Or, if you prefer, you can reach me directly at [email protected]

Even works by boosting your paychecks when your pay is lower than expected, and repaying those paycheck boosts when your pay is higher than expected.

Based on the scenario you described, it seems like it's possible you had a few low paychecks while you were using Even. This means you would have received money from us in the form of a paycheck boost. Those boosts would have started to repay once you had high paychecks again.

We talk about the details of how this works in our FAQ: https://even.com/faq

And our terms of service: https://even.com/terms

The $114 you are referring to is definitely not a service fee - that is repaying the money you currently owe to Even. When you receive boosts from Even, you only ever repay the amount you received. There's no interest or fees on money you receive as a boost. The only cost to use Even is a $3 weekly fee. We also talk about the cost of using Even (and why we chose a $3 weekly fee) in the pricing and fees section of our FAQ.

I know you also mentioned cancelling your account - you can choose to cancel your account at any time. You can do this by letting us know in the in-app chat, or by emailing [email protected]. Once you do that, we'll begin paying back any amount you owe to Even in weekly increments. Based on the scenario you described, it sounds like you may be currently in the process of cancelling and closing your account. If you're curious about how exactly this process works, see "What if I owe Even for boosts when I cancel?" in our FAQ.

Finally - a boost from Even is not a loan. The money Even deposits when you get a low check is an advance on your future income from high checks. We have more information about this in our FAQ (see the section titled "Receiving Paycheck Boosts") and in our terms of service.

I'm very sorry for your confusion here - we do our absolute best to make Even as easy as possible to understand and use. I personally care deeply about Even being a service that helps people achieve financial stability, and make progress towards their goals. I'm working on this because I have personally experienced income volatility, and know firsthand how hard it is to budget and plan when you don't know what your next paycheck will be. If there's anything you think we can do better, I hope you'll email me directly - again, my email is [email protected]

Thanks,
