Expert Tire Ripoff

On Saturday, September 8, 2001 my wife had taken her car to Expert Tire at 21st and Fairlawn, Topeka KS,because she was pretty sure she had a separated tread on one of her Bridgestone tires. The reason she suspected a tread separation was because she had two others fail on this same set of tires.
The Expert Tire technician first accused her of not rotating the tires in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Then they told her the tires were badly cupped and there was no tread separation. To top it off they did it patronizing rudeness.
They offered to replce the tire under the road hazard warranty for $35., plus stem and balancing.
She took the car to another tire dealer who confirmed the tread separation, that the tires were not cupped and that the tires did not show any signs of improper rotation. They charged her $3. for a new tire.

When it comes time to replace tires, too many consumers shop for the lowest price in town then complain about the service. The best way to have your tires replaced is to visit a shop that offers good customer service and experienced tire techs. A long-term relationship with a reputable automotive repair shop is much more valuable than the few dollars you'll save at the bargain basement place!
