I placed my diamond/gold/pearl necklace on various sites to try to sell it. I am starting up a new business and although I did not want to sell the jewellery I actually needed the money urgently.

I got the piece appraised by a registered germologist and he said that it is worth between USD 25,000 and 28,000. Well I advertised it at the bottom range.

I was contacted by Pascal Johanson (probably an alias - thief) from Marbella in Spain.

Because of the large amount Escrow were suggested. Understandably.

He suggested I check out express-recommend.com. I did.

It all seemed above boad and legitamate.

He apparantly transfered the monies and I was informed via E-mail that the funds are kept and that I should ship.

I used FEDEX and they delivered it. I have confirmation and papertrails on all the above.

After two days I heard nothing from either the buyer or the escrow.

I started to suspect fraud.

I was cheated out of the jewellery and the money. These practices should be stopped. We are honest people trying to make our own... and then this happens.

I wish EXPRESS-RECOMMEND.COM and ALL who are involved in this scam be brought to justice so no-one else will be defrauded.

Eduard, I too just had the same experience with the same guy and same company. I did my homework and it seemed like a professional entity. It was a detailed website that assured me the transaction was safe. I had never dealt with an Escrow company previously and looked them up on google with no negative responses until your post (happend the same time as mine). I had a $7,000.00 watch invloved. Curious on what steps you have taken to rectify this fraud. You are a victim of your own greed and ignorance. You're one of thousands of newbie eBay users who have fallen for this scam for years. Did you send your expensive item to the scammer marked as a gift or costume jewelry of no obvious value on the customs form? Your scammer is Romanian, he set the fake site up to swindle you and did it successfully because you let him. He is now going to Spain to pick up the jewelry and sell it to someone else.
