Wyndham, in my opinion, is an organization you want to avoid. Listen to this owner describe his experience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7qELwa0Ius

I have been told that all timeshare sales people are not bad. I have yet to meet one that is honest and treats you like a person. My guess is if they treated you with respect they would not last in that field... Too bad

Fairfiled is in it for the money plain and simple. They have some gorgeous properties and so it is easy to think "next time" will somehow be different. However, when basic items like kitchen stoves set off the fire alarms for no apparent reason( and no the stove was not ever left unattended)and I am told "oh yes, we have had problems with this unit all month" ,perhaps there is an problem and should be fixed? I could go on , but you get the point. It never was about fixing the problem or my family's SAFETY it was about how many times they could make money on this unit without repairing the problem. I was TOLD that it took time to repair it, costing them money. That pretty much sums up Fairfield. Good Luck! Cat

Thank you Bill. I did not no the sales presentations were not mandatory. That is a good thing to know. Our first vaction through our timeshare; although time consuming in making reservations, was very nice. We stayed at Bonnet Creek in FL. The staff at that resort were extremely helpful and very personalble. Cat I agree; looking back, my husband and I were on our first anniversary. We planned to attend the sales presentation get the free stuff and walk away. We did, upon meeting the sales rep. state right away we were only there for the free weekend. Somehow; after hours of listening to the advantages of buying and seeing the lavish rooms at the resort and continuous reduction of the sale price, we BROKE. I do very much appreciate both your responses ... my main issue ... if Fairfield would acknowledge the validity of these problems; that not only exist with me, but a large percent of others who owns these timeshares and have/had a problem. There are far too many complaints from others regarding various problems they have with their timeshares. A little "old fashion" people relations would go a long way for Fairfield. A little "common coursity" from Fairfield through even a form letter would go a long way in improving consumer relations. They do have very nice people working for them at the resorts so I know the company can't be all bad. It's just getting past the brick walls to the resorts that seems to be one of their greatest problems. Again, thank you for your responses ... they are appreciated. WHY can't Fairfield/Wyndham be as thoughtful?

First off timeshares are high pressured sales ,period. I've been to many, gotten several nice items and enjoyed some stays at nice places. In the end though it is much cheaper to save your money and pay cash for your vacation and you can get some awesome deals that way! My husband and I had an incrediable 15th yr anniv cruise several years back. Now we are already planning our 30th yr anniv cruise to Hawaii in 3 years. Paying cash can ofyen cut your cost in half! i hate it your'e having these issues. I had alot of issues w/Fairfield Suites as my daughter was a high level gymnast and we traveled 5 months of the year on avg, I can't even go into the issues. I must say though that the Fairfield Suites did correct the problems, but I find it distressing that there are so many problems to begin with. Good Luck in the future. There are more choices than Fairfield!

Sallyfine, I am really sorry to hear about your situation. Although I understand your situation, I believe the standard for this company is not to make exceptions. That has been my experience since 1999. If they let one person do this then they have to let all the people do this and I think that could cause even more problems. My other thought is, if it was life threatening why in the world did you go? The position you put your family in was irresponsible. As far as the sales presentations are concerned - have you not learned that these are going to be sale presentation and that they are high pressure? And I do not understand the points only being good at a specific resort. I have made a numbers of purchases that came with the bonus points and I used them where I wanted without any problem or question. In the future you should know if you do not already know that you can pass up the presentation - you do not need to go. It is optional not mandatory. Stop going to them if you can not handle the sales pitch and say no at the end. I usually go every time, however, I start the whole thing letting them know that I have no intention of buying so please do not waste my time and yours trying. I do wish you luck with your future vacations and hope that you begin to have the nice experiences that me and my family have had.
