After Check 21 was passed my bank account that I worked so hard for over ten years to keep clean was thrown into utter turmoil and as hard as I work I cannot get it back into the black. Why? because the bank keeps letting companies ie: Kroger and Check-Redi make ach checks and put them through my account.

This should not be legal. Let me say that I have no problem paying bounced check fees, however I do have a problem with companies being allowed to just willy nilly make checks without my authorization and put them through my account.

Check 21 was only passed to help the banks and companies legally rip the poorest of our country off. Those of us who work hard and make little money are the ones being hurt by this law. We as citizens should be allowed to have the privacy of our own bank accounts. Those of us who have to live paycheck to paycheck are the ones who will end up making all the banks in this country richer. So far I have paid my bank over $2,000 dolllars in bad check fees since this law was passed, now we are having trouble paying the bills and feeding our kids, when we had no problem before.

This means I can actually get my money from someone in a timely manner. If they are willing to give me a bad one, this gives me more time to catch them. Before, someone writing a bad check had plenty of time to scoot on down the road. Not anymore. I can have the cops knocking on their door with a quickness. I take checks from very few customers because I know so many people went to government(public) schools and have no clue about 1st grade math. Yahoo! I love Check-21 and NSF and overdraft fees.

No More Float the days of "floating" checks are over.

As I've posted before, the days of "floating" checks are over. Deposited a customer's check into my account on the way to work at 9 am. His check HIT his account by 6pm that night. NINE HOURS. It use to take up to 2 or 3 days. Not anymore with Check 21. CR reports there maybe 7 MILLION MORE NSF CHECKS WITH 210 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF NSF FEES IN THE FIRST YEAR. Money into a savings account in a credit, enough cash to buy groceries, no NSF fees, $2000 richer. They can't get into savings accounts. The big ripoff here is that it didn't change the way the banks/CU's credit our accounts. A total one way street. You can thank your politicians for this one.

If it wasn't for god damned banks stealing all people's money, this woman could afford to pay her bills.

You need to see the big picture here. Yes this woman may be living in poverty. Perhaps there are weeks where she doesn't have the money to cover all her needs. But, where is a big portion of her money going? Bank fees! These god-damned banks will sit there and suck the life out of the working poor. They are little better than the payday lenders. They continue to exploit the poor, making huge profits off them month after month. And, they have absolutely no inclination to ever stop. No morality or sense of decency, that's for sure. These large banking corporations use every means possible to trip up the average customer. They know your banking habits. They can assess your weaknesses and vulnerabilities. They can see exactly how and where to trip you up and steal your money. It's like a god-damned shark in a swimming pool filled with disabled children. The kids don't stand a chance. If the bank isn't using fraud and deception to steal your money, then they are just waiting for you to trip up on your own. Either way, as sure as the sun will come up in the morning, they can guarantee that you will end up falling victim to their fraudulent schemes. If these banks weren't always stealing this woman's money, she could afford to live better and pay all her bills. It's as simple as that.

You were ripping them off actually

I work for Kroger, and if you have had to pay $2,000 in bad check fees, it's because YOU wrote bad checks, and were ripping the stores off when you wrote them. If you engage in this practice so often that it is forcing your family to go hungry, you may want to be honest with yourself and just start actually shoplifting, instead of going through the farce of writing checks you know you cannot cover. As an employee I feel personally insulted that you feel you don't have cover the amount of your purchase at the time you write the check. I know I have to when I am shopping so why shouldn't you?
