Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. Deceptive Consumer Ripoff Deerfield Beach Florida

I purchased a 2003 Chevy Z71 on May 31, 2005. I was encourage by the dealership to buy and extended warranty with Fidelty Warranty Services. I was skeptical at first, but I read through the contract pretty closely and it sounded like a good deal. I purchased the Gold Plus plan that is supposed to cover nearly every part on the truck for 3 year or 36000 miles. After a few months, I began to hear a loud bang and a jerk when the truck shifts gears. I took it into a Chevy dealer and the checked the truck out. The found the slip yoke was going bad and said it need to be replaced or it might cause further damage to other parts of the truck. They then notifield Fidelty and they told the dealership that if the part was not completely broken, it would not be covered. I was appauled to hear this because my contract clearly states that a slip yoke would be covered in the case of a mechanical breakdown. I then contacted them myself and was told the same thing. I was not only aggrivated because of the deception of the term mechanical breakdown, but also because I had to pay $475 to get truck fixed after my so called $2614 warranty did not cover it. I am now encouraging everyone I know not to buy an extended warranty fromt this company. They have no concern for the well being of their customers or their families. Am I supposed to send my family out on the road in a vehicle that clearly has mechanical problems b/c some so called warranty company will not repair the parts. I am now in the process of cancelling my extended warranties on my Z71 and my Tahoe due to this mishap. I hope everyone hears about how deceptive this company is from my experience. I also hope in return that their company fails due to lack of customers. What goes around comes around!!!

Shannon is completly correct. GM decided to make an updated part for you comfort. The slip yoke would not have failed.

And to Shannon's second part. Do you believe every word that comes out of a sales man's mouth? They are there to make commission and they know you want to get out of there with your new car and you will not read everything. Sounds as though your salesman lied to you about the contract.

On your first claim as an ASE certifies Master Tech the slip yoke on your driveshaft was not failed.

They changed the design of it so it wouldn't get rusty and bind up. (that is the bump/jerk you felt) They are now made of nickel so this doesn't happen. Your yoke was not failed nor would it ever fail. If you don't believe me go talk to a Mr. Goodwrench certified GM Tech.
As far as your electrical problems don't get mad at the warranty co. just because you believe it should be covered. (Read the whole contract)
I've bought many cars and just because someone in sales says bumper to bumper doesn't mean it really is. My advise is go back to the selling dealer and talk to them about this.

After trying to deal with these people on my first claim, I had to unfortunately go back again. My horn quit working on my Z71 and my contract stated the horn was covered. I took it in and they found the contacts on my steering column had gone bad and the dealership said it shoud be covered, b/c I had the Gold Plus plan. After calling Fidelity, it of course was not. They said if I had purchased the Platinum plan, it would have been covered. I stated I had the Gold Plus plan which I was told was the best that was offered, and the sheet Fidelity sheet I had didn't even offer a Platinum. Well I had to pay another $250 out of my pocket b/c of this useless warranty. I have now cancelled them both my Z71 and on my Tahoe. I wrote the company a letter regarding my first claim and they said it was a misunderstanding and I had not properly gone through the right steps of filing the claim. I called them and they said the part was not covered, what the hell else is there to do! This company is pathetic and I hope no one every buys another warranty with them.
