While being a long time FIDO customer (over 6 years), with 2 lines, been trying to shop around, and realised, that one of the lines will be better @ WIND, and one day ported the number there only to discover that FIDO will actually charge you for 30 more calendar days.
Trying to make any sense of this, by calling FIDO, i've been adviced, that FIDO required 30 days notice on cancellation, and number port-out considers to be just that.
While i might agree, if you want to just cancel the services, 30 days may apply, i do not under any twist of faith understand how i can be charged for the services i've never received when actually ported out the number.
Anyhow, after a long story by CSR about how FIDO cares, i've been adviced, that if i were to keep another line with FIDO, they will wave the 30-day notice requirement. I do not believe FIDO really cares, as if they'd see that the old time customer has transfered one number out from FIDO, they'd give me a call to ask me whenever they can make anything for me to get my satisfaction. And i believe, i was one of the best customers in terms of money - my average bill with FIDO was around $200-$250. so the only 30 day notice waiver did not appeal to me at all, and the CSR was not willing to do anything else.
In the end, i will transfer my second number out from FIDO and not just because i do not like the service, but out of principle.
So the moral of the story - never use the FIDO, as their tactics not to get competitive, but to hold on to the customers under the threat of RIPOFF.
