but in the interim make sure you dispute the claim in writing sending it certified with return receipt with the collection agency and fingerhut and ask for validation PUTTING THE certification number on the letter. If they don't respond, contact the credit bureaus advising them the company failed to validate the claim and to remove it. It sounds like the debt (if there really was one) is out of SOL anyway. Since you are in Oxford, Ohio and if you are a student of Miami U. you might see if there is a student legal department that can assist you too.
