fingerhut Fingerhut.com threatened to charge me a fee that was waved if I closed my account saint cloud mn
I received a Fingerhut magazine in the mail and found a Bone Collector air rifle that I was interest in. I applied for the Fingerhut credit card and was approved. I purchased the air rifle for 299.00. When I received the rifle I saw the same rifle at Cabelas and Walmart for 199.99. I observed that the return policy is 30 days but I would be responsible to pay the shipping ans handling fees. I sent ghe rifle back and dudnt hear from Fingerhut. I never received a statement from Fingerhut and asdumed since the credit card was new I would receive a statement in the next billing cycle. I then received a call from Fingerhuts collections department.
The agent stated that I now owe 57.95 due to interst and late fees added to the original 22.00 shipping and handling fee. I went back and forth with the agent for 35 minutes and finally settled with them for a payment of 35.00 which I still wasnt hapoy with. I paid the 35.00 fee and was told my balance was now zero. Please understand that I dont have any merchandise and have paid 35.00. I then asked to be transferred over to customer service but was told I would have to call back the same number I just called and that she was unable to transfer me to customer service.
I called the same number back and spoke to a customer service representative and stated that I wanted to close my account. The rep told me that I would be charged a 5.00 fee for making a phone payment that the previous agent just waved. The argument began, I was totally frustrated. I asked the rep if she felt it was fair that I am a new customer and have been subjected to several fees and I double talk from three different representatives of Fingerhut? She then told me that she would wave the 5.00 fee that I was already told was waved, only if I would keep my account open. This company scams people, please avoid using this company at all cost.
