First Capital Consumers Group is the ripoff business from hell. Toronto, Ontario
I was contacted by First Consumers Group Group on 6/17/02. They informed me that I had applied for a Visa or Mastercard about six months ago and I was finally approved. I didn't remember They said my credit limit on each card would be 2000.00. Along with my cards I would receive a free cell phone as an incentive. They said they need my banking account information to debit my account for 199.00 on 6/28/02, and I would receive the cards approxiametly two weeks later. I gave them my account information, but I started feeling uneasy.
I called to cancel, at the phone number provided to me 416-488-4664,there was no response. I thought to myself, why would a legitamate credit card company not have a 1-800 number? I looke them up on the internet, and First Consumers were at the top of the list for Fraudulent credit card offers. I went to the bank and place a stop payment on the transaction, before it even had a chance to go through, thank God! I called another number I found 416-488-8103, and the woman I spoke with was very evasive. I could here the T.V. playing in the background.
I told her I need to verify my account information. She said she didn't have access to my information, because it was processed last week. I asked if she worked for a Credit Card service, they didn't keep record of transactions on a computer? She said no. She quickly offered to cancel my transaction. I told her that I knew her and her company where scam artist, and if they touched my account ever in life , they I would hunt them down, and sue the hell out of each and every one of them. She quickly apologized and hung up. I am thankful that i smelled this rat before it was too late, and got to my bank in time to put a stop payment for any amount on my account.
