Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Almost two years ago I was contacted by the FNBM promising to reestablish my credit and give me a credit line of $2500 within 6 months. I sent them $100 to start a savinghs account. My available credit balance was about 30 dollars. My bill bill was getting higher and higher and more money per month was added to my card that I could not use. I began getting calls and demands to pay. They refused to close my account, and kept adding bogus charges to my account.

I stopped payments. Now they claim I owe them over $800 and constantly call, making threats, intimidating, and being rude. This happens all times of the day and night. When I try to explain that charges were added that shouldn't have been they yell, and become impossible to deal with. They even demanded the name of my lawyer.

I used this company in the 1st place because my divorce left my credit in a state of horror, and I needed to get it insome order for my childrens sake.

I am disabled on a very fixed income, I never expected they would just start adding all kinds of bogus charges to the account, and bring it to thep oint were every time I made a payment the total would go up. Now it been sent to a collection agency.

I just got section 8 housing and my baby girl is due to be born next week. I physically had to leave my home as my ex husband is very abusive and I could no longer live that way. I spent months being homeless, and the emotional abuse never stops. My state of NH does not take domestic abuse seriously. So you own yr own in that situation. I explained my situation to FNBM and thye refusal to cancle the card, the intimadition and a little of my personal situation Everything was futile.

This companyprays on the disadvantaged that have gone through a difficult to me financially, and misleads them and then becomes a nightmare. This world is very sad when companies feed on the poor to

Miss Lisa, please dont offer "words" of "wisdom" if you truly have no dealings with this company, or do you? you live where? oh Las Vegas, hmm? In my case they did BREAK THE LAW!!! I never applied/activated this card that was sent to me, with the original offer by the way! I cut the card up, laughing that they had not even had my last name right! (used a last name that i hadnt in years because i am married now) It gets better Lisa, WAIT-- i need you to read over the FTC laws and the FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT, first hun,.... ill wait, shouldnt take long to find out how many different laws this "wonderful" company has broken! A few days later i recieve a billing statement from them, i actually call them this time, careful not to give out any info, in which they didnt help me. So, i am doing EVERYTHING in my power to bring these jerks down. Wondering if ya still work there or had worked there when they were sued by the OCC? And they have conveniently changed their name, it is actually "CREDIT ONE BANK" now, hmm they may have fooled some others if they would have changed their address along with the name, guess that takes more money, wondering how their profits are doing now a days? I am gonna find out soon, of course. ha ha

please read and ask questions before you sign!!!!

first of all fnbm is not a bad company. they receive a lot of bad press that stems from consumer irresponsibility. all of the information you need to know for the credit card is printed on the back of the application. most consumers with bad credit are so happy to be approved for anything, they fail to read the back. if the print is too small get a magnifying glass, if thats too much for you call the company and ask them to read it to you. believe it or not the customer service reps have copies of the application that was sent to you. if its too much of your time to sit down and read what you are signing then you need to ask yourself if this is something you need. if after reading, you still dont understand call and ask. a legitimate company will provide a phone number for you to ask questions they want you to know what you are signing. one misconseption is that consumers think all credit card companies work alike or that they have to follow what joe shmoe is doing down the street. wrong. thats why we have so many options in the world today. everything is not for everybody. when you make changes to your account, ask questions(i.e. will my payment be more, what day will this account report as closed, will there be cancellation fees). i know for a fact that the apr does not go up or down, their whole goal is to you eligible for a credit card with reputable companies with significantly lower interest rates. it doesnt hurt to ask questions, but you grt more bees with honey than vinegar. keep in mind that some reps are only there for a pay check and dont care, remembet their names and help the company weed them out and get rid of them. this is helping you.before you judge, get both sides of the story. which like i said is on the back of the application.

Tape Record Coversations with abusive debt collectors and log all inbound calls

#8Consumer Suggestion

Fri, April 23, 2004

Protect yourself from rogue companies that utilize malicious tactics to collect debts. Check and see if your state has a one-party consent law. Then purchase a micro-cassette recorder and telephone log book. Everytime these collectors call you, turn on the listening device and record/document the entire conversation. Also, write in your log book when the inbound call began and ended. If the collector steps over the line, you have it all on tape-SOLID PROOF OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES.
