Do not get a card with this company. I made a terrible mistake. I wanted to build my credit and accepted a card from First Premier Bank with a $250 credit limit.

The card arrived with a $178 balance before I even used it. I should have immediately returned the card. Instead, I read the paperwork and found that the $178 was from fees and decided since I have bad credit, I deserved to have to go through this to repair my credit.

I immediately went online and paid $120. First Premier Bank charged me $7 to pay them $120 and $3.95 to view my account online. After two days, I noticed my balance only increased (they added the $7 and $3.95). I viewed my bank account and the $120 was already removed my my checking. First Premier said they hold payments for 20 days. 20 days after charging me $7 to pay it and 3.95 to view the account!!!!!!!

I have made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE. I'm in a complete predicament. Do I stay with them, pay off slowly and never charge a dime to build my credit or do I cancel?

I'm telling everyone I know about First Premier Bank. If you are a victim please speak out at every venue you can find. I've already posted on consumeraffairs.com. I am reporting them to my attorney general as well and contacting a banking attorney to find out what other actions I can take, if any.

It is very unfortunate that companies like this pray on vulnerable people. Please if you are considering this company, stop and go find another way.

That is why credit card companies get away with cheating people

This, is why credit card companies get away with cheating people cause they work with the federal reserve the fdic they are really good card companies & they are really bad ones who cheat people.

I must be lucky. I have had credit with First Premier for some time. I did read the fine print and did agree to the charges (and paid them at above minimum). I have dealt with their customer support. Very nice to me, prompt to fix my problem. Reading from a Script? Sure, same as Microsoft support, or any other major company that has thousands of support team and not the time to specially train each of them. Deal. As for this 20 day hold time? Never had it happen. Heck, just this month I sweated about it because I forgot to mail my payment (which I always do as soon as I get them) and it was 7 calendars days until due. I dropped it in the mail and only 3 days later it was posted. Wow. Moral of the story. It is legal what they do. Unethical? Not really, the terms are written out clearly and you are required to say that you have read and understand them. Do you? then don't agree that you do. I don't think highly of First Premier. They simply have never done anything wrong with me. I'm glad they have give me the opportunity to rebuild what 5 years being homeless has done to my credit. They have always reported to all three agencies. Not many will do that. (Except last two months they only reported to two???)

They too hold my payments for 20 days, and give me NO available credit between now and then. PLUS they don't give you credit for all you pay. I paid $105 and they only gave me credit for $65 yet I checked and they pulled $105 from my checking account. As for the employee who says it's your own fault. BULL. I've reported to the bbb and I'm thinking of filing a lawsuit. POOR business practices, POOR customer support (half the time the person is obviously reading from a script and not even listening to a word I say). Hang in there buddy. There are some good companies out there, FP just isn't one of them.

I'm sorry to say this bluntly. it's your own fault. Everything was disclosed to you and you agreed to get the card. You say that the company ripped you off but in fact you went along with it. I am currently an employee of Premier Bankcard and I have to deal with these ignorant questions/people each and every day. If you don't agree with the fees or terms and conditions of the card then why did you get it? You need to look over something before you signup for ANYTHING with a creditor. I don't agree with the way the company is run, but I agree that the people who sign up for and then later complain about it have their own issues. All I can say is take it as a lesson learned. Everything is legal and there is not much you can do. Save your money, an attorney is not going to do much. The bank actually works very closely with the Federal Reserve. Pay off the card and close it
