Complaint Review: Frank And Denna Nick Moon Mountain Ranch - Spokane Washington

These discredulous people bought the sound, pregnant Thoroughbred Mare Springtime Express and took her home and turned her out and left her to "run the fence" (by their words in a cc:mail received two days after they took her). The result is a tragedy in that this classy mare, whom we have owned for fourteen (14) years is now lame and aborted. Although in the their words was prancing around when they took her home. These folks launched an irrational, libelous campaign on the internet on some "boards" that sparked a torrent of cc:mail and phone calls from friends and associates who have known and done business with us for over thirty seven (37) years. John and "Gina" Schaefer led the mare up to and into the trailer without incident and took her home. cc:mail's from the day she departed Saturday March 7 through Monday March 9 related everything was "going Great" - then WHAM!!! I have copies and have provided them to counsel. They have made outrageous accusations from navicular to drugging but the most significant was an assault on my character was "stealing horse papers"!! She rants on about the papers for Springtime Express "not matching the horse". They were handed the "original" papers complete with her "tattoo" as Springtime was a very successful race horse. Any knowledgeable horse person simply has to look under her upper lip and match the tattoo to the papers. Additionally, this mare has a large unmistaken able triangular scar on her left hip that occurred to her before we got her as a young horse. This scar is unmistaken able and there are literally hundreds of people that know this mare and the scar, to include the ranch that bred her last year (they had the privilege of handling this so called biting hard to handle mare whose young daughter developed a liking for the mare and was observed petting her during one of our visits). We were concerned that these folks did NOT want a vet inspection, coggins and brand inspection to cross state lines because a knowledgeable, responsible horse person would initiate these activities BEFORE buying or transporting a horse. As a seller we accommodate the buyer at their request, as a buyer we will not go forward without these activities, period. These rantings, lies and attacks have provided slanderous reading for the world and created a fire storm of support and positive communication from those who know us but an attorney was not so entertained and he will be very involved for "the rest of this story"!!!!

Enough!! Moon Mountain Ranch has been an active ranch for thirty seven (37) years. I have never encountered such a slanderous pack of lies. I have been active in the horse industry for fifty two (52) years in various capacities. I have owned two ranches and two stallion stations. I have been licensed in three states in various capacities and have run countless horses in those states to include stakes winners and champions. I also served several years on the Board Of Directors for the Idaho Thoroughbred Association. I am a decorated, retired military E-9 and I am currently a Senior Manager for the United States Postal Service with twenty five years. Now for Gina and John Schafer- I will be dealing with you in a different venue and you will NOT like the rest of this story. The bogus horse stories and lies are one issue and I'll address those below. The assault on my character, integrity and honesty with your accusations is not only a first in my two careers spanning forty nine (49) years and sixty seven (67) years of life, it is the most abhorrent, ludicrous and slanderous attack I can imagine. I will get satisfaction through a court of law. Springtime Express, god bless her, was ours for fourteen (14) years and I feel that I have betrayed her and allowed harm to come to her at Gina and John Schaefers hands. Wrong mare??? Fake Papers???? Draft cross ???? If you were to poll people in and around Boise, ID and mention Springtime Express their immediate response would be the mare with triangle scar on her left hip??? Not to mention the fact that any knowledgeable horse person knows that the tattoo under the upper lip is permanently inscribed on the original papers which were signed transferring ownership and handed to you on March 7 (by the way GINA and JOHN the papers on thoroughbreds are signed and transferred to the new owner upon transferring ownership - NOT MAILED ANYWHERE much less through the USPS!!!! Springtime is blood typed and DNA'd through the Jockey Club and several foals have been registered with positive matches otherwise you don't get papers, any knowledgeable horse person knows this. Springtime trotted out of the pasture and right into your trailer without an issue RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, as a matter of fact YOU PUT HER IN THE TRAILER!!!!!! PD your accusation that she had been drugged is an out and out lie - PD you are a liar. We do NOT allow any such substance without strict vet control normal case much less a pregnant mare. The fact that you cooked up that story tells me what you are all about but that is not my game. I have a string of e:mails you sent from how great she was doing (for 3 days) but pacing the fence to she's lame, She's foundered, she has navicular - bottom line you turned her out and let her run for two and a half days and she got sore and aborted. Gina and John Schaefer you will get a private reading of the rest of this story and your outrageous voice mail messages will be played in court, if the court is rated R and will allow them. This is lengthy and I am not a Board person but after receiving several phone calls and e:mails from people who know us and saw this Crap I felt I had to respond. I'll address the rest of this through a separate venue. For Gina and John Schaefer you have harmed a member of our family, Springtime is an incredible mare, you don't deserve her and I'll never forgive myself for allowing you to do this to her. Again..
