I answered the ad for Beverage Air Fridge & Freezer located in a prominent neighborhood in Chestnut Hill. I had contact with a man whom identified himself as John Mathews working on behalf of the owner Frank Gangi - Couture Trust , Global Naps, Broadvoice, Venetian Ambassador Alcohol Imports, etc.

My first contact via craigslist and email. I tried to get in touch prior to July 4 th to pick up the units, finally this John Mathews got back to me, said he had been on vacation. we agreed on a price of $1550.oo on the units. I kept asking the age of the units and he did not reply. I was working that week and had no one to pick up the two units weighing 304lbs each. I told him I could pick up the units and I would bring my guy with me to inspect the units upon pick-up,  He asked that I drop off a deposit. It was Friday traffic and I was coming from the North Shore and against my better judgement, I dropped off $200.oo cash deposit and handed it to Mr Gangi representative John Mathews.

I rented a Uhaul trailer from West Roxbury and proceeded to Mr Gangi House to inspect the units with a professional and pick -up and pa balance. Upon plugging in the units, the Fridge was fine, however the freezer was loud and noisy, my tech told me the Freezer needed a new motor and/or possibly a fan at the cost of  $300.00. I asked for a further discount due to that assessment, in addition I knew now the units were dated 2004. My tech told not worth the $1550. We offered $1150.00 and or just to buy the fridge for $750. Mr Mathews refused and said the owner would not accept the offer, he offered a reduction of only $50.00 and then retracted that. I asked for the deposit back and he refused the deposit return.  I can only tell you I buy and sell many high end items etc. from Craigslist and this is my FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE AND LOSS OF MONEY. WE had no contact, the deposit was good faith and contingent upon my tech inspecting the noise  on the freezer. I was so irritated I left. I will pursue the return of my deposit. I do not do business like that, they had no right to keep the deposit and were not entirely truthful regarding the age and condition of the equipment. I would not keep anyone's deposit if they decided not to buy due to condition.  BEWARE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EITHER OF THESE PEOPLE FRANK GANGI AND JOHN MATHEWS, regardless of the prominent address.

Monica Churchill responded to an ad in Craigslist for a commercial refridgerator and a freezer.

the advertised price was $2000.00 we agreed on $1550. She changed the pick up time and date several times, and at that point we asked her to pay a $200 deposit as we had removed the units from sale online and if she did not take them we wanted to be covered for our loss.

She showed up with the $200. dollars , was brought down to see the units, they were powered up for her, she then said she would be back to pick them up at a later agreed time. At no time was the sale contingent upon in spection by her "technician" who was in fact her husband.

She claimed to be a "chef" when we asked where she worked, she said, she did not work for anyone but was starting out in her own home.  Her husband stated he was unhappy about how much money she was spending on her new "hobby".

It was at that point he stated that the fan motor was noisy and demanded a $300.00 discount. John looked up a new fan motor online, saw it cost $47.00 and we offered 50 dollars as an accomodation. keep in mind she had already seen the units running and raised no objections and came back to get them.

Her husband got mad and started making additional demands , at which point we withdrew the offer to accomodate them, as he was not being poilte. he then stated he wanted the $200.00 back and we explained that this as the very reason we had asked for the deposit , we did not want to have the units off the market while they got their act together.

We find her statements false and will seek court action to have this posting removed as the deal was finalized and was not contingent on any further "inspection"
