Frontier Airlines basicaly STEALS peoples money with the added 100 dollar fee for assisted child flight, AND holds people in the termanl in order to compensate for Frontier Airline delays. After seeing my child onto the plane, I was told that I had to wait until the plane was in the AIR! So basicaly not only did my child have to sit out on the tarmac, I myself had to sit and wait. I payed these people an extra 100 dollars to assist my child and turned over custodly and then was TOLD to wait.. This is like paying a baby sitter, and then the baby sitter telling you that you need to stay in the driveway until your child falls asleep.. They had my contact info if something went wrong.. This airline caused me to be late for my job, and in these difficult times this is not acceptable. When I wrote the airline they sent me a CANNED responce and blaimed travelosity.. This is a TOTAL JOKE... they miss the point, their policy amounts to fraud !! When you pay a person to take care of issues you should not have to stand around and wait..

Actually, paying the fee to have their 14 year old escorted was the only sign that this parent actually gives a d**n about their kid. I wasn't aware it was an optional arrangement. I figured airlines require it when a child flies alone. So if it were an option, I have to give the OP at least that much credit.

But the OP still has screwed up priorities. If a potential flight delay was going to result in being late to work or something, the flight should have been arranged after hours or on a non work day, and if need be, the child retrieved on the other end of the flight during midnight hours.

Why pay a fee at all?

The OP should have said right from the start that her child was 14 years old. Kids that old don't need assistance, they can figure out where to go and what to do by themselves. Save a hundreds bucks and no hassles as a bonus.

So being on time to work is more important than your child's welfare? It's all about choices..

I'm reminded of a time when I put my 12 year old on a plane to Fayetteville, NC. She had to make a connection and I, too, paid the extra fee to have someone escort her to the second flight. Lo and behold, those idiots (US Airways) tried to put her on a plane to Fayetteville, ARKANSAS. My daughter tried to tell them she was going to North Carolina, and to hear my daughter tell it, she had a heck of time convincing them. Duh - look at the ticket!

My daughter told me later she was tempted to go ahead and fly to Arkansas and then we could sue the pants off them! She was afraid her dad would be mad so she didn't do it :-)

And no, I don't work for any airline either.

Now we work for Frontier Airlines! Any chance a rival network can get us all a show like Pan Am? First episode; the crazy parent who didn't want to wait until their kid was safely in the air! Yo, Frontier, where's my paycheck?

Whatta loon!

I get and understand that many Americans have become accustom to just handing over money without cause.. It seems a few people miss the point.. My 14 year old has flew MANY times unassisted on Air Tran with zero issues. Due to a schedule issue we opted to use Frontier this time.. I walked my son to the plane and seen him board.... I saw the plan push back from the gate and THAT'S where things went wrong.. The plane SAT out on the Tarmac for an extended amount of time.. There was no way for me to even see the plane. It also seems that some of the people who have responded do not know what it means to have a JOB or value being ON TIME... If I pay a baby sitter to watch my child, I'll be darned if I'm going to sit in the driveway until he or she falls asleep ! The airline HAD my emergency contact information.. I can't help but think that these responses are from the airline posing as users.. I have already decided that in the future I will continue to use Air Tran, where they seem to have a sence of obligation after taking a customers money..

Have 7 grandkids and 2 greatgrand sons. I can't count the DOZENS of times my wife and I WAITED until the aircraft lifted off the runway so we could call their parents and let them know they "got off" allright after they spent their summers with us. I guess we weren't "dump and go" grandparents. We were actually CONCERNED about our grandkids. I guess SOME KIDS aren't worth that few extra minutes, YOU HAD TO WAIT, especially if you've already PAID someone a whole hundred dollars to relieve you of your parenting responsibilities. I'd hate to be your kid or maybe I just had loving parents to set examples.

A responsible parent?

I would expect that any responsible, caring parent would actually insist that they be allowed to wait at the gate until the plane was in the air and well on it's way before they left the airport.

How in h**l did this "parent" have any right to have this poor child in their custody?

The world has sure changed, and NOT for the better.

How long did you wait?  15 minutes, 1/2 hour?

Even IF longer, this is YOUR child...geez.

Lord forbid you have to hang out in order to make sure your child's flight takes off okay! Why don't you just fork over permanent custody to your ex (I'm assuming the child's flight was part of a post divorce shuttling from one parent to the other, and since you're such an obvious louse, I do NOT apologize if I'm wrong)

What if that flight had to be cancelled, or delayed for hours and possibly disembarked, forcing your child to wait alone in the terminal until you deigned to return for him/her?

Not one to normally applaud any airline for anything, since most never seem to ever do right by anyone with an issue, I say BRAVO Frontier, BRAVO for making sure this despicable "parent" had to wait until that plane with THEIR child was safely in the air!

If the "recipient" of said child at the other end of the flight recognizes the likely "shipper", I recommend going to court to make sure said child never has to inconvenience the shipper again by taking such flights.

What if the plane had to return to the gate?

You sound like someone who is more concerned about how it effects you rather than taking care of your child.   You were charged $100 to make sure that your child arrives at the destination safely and is released to the appropriate responsible person.

Did they do that?  Well since you are not complaining about how your child had to wait at the destination by themselves or the other party had to go hunting your child down, one could only figure that they did.

So exactly what do you want from Frontier, and exactly what did you complain about for them to turn around and blame Travelocity?
