I recently purchased a brand new Forest River, Wildwood, Heritage Glen 5th wheel. During the first trip about 4 hours down the road, I pulled over the check on everything. While doing my walk around I noticed what appeared to be something
on my roof. After further inspection I realized that it was my roof and it had peeled back to the first sky light. To complete the trip we taped and resealed the roof to the sub structure. Once I got back home I returned the unit to the dealer at which I had purchased it. I explained to them the roof issue with a few other things that had gone wrong on the trip, and expressed to them my concern with an upcoming trip that I had planned in a month, and I was told that was not unreasonable they would have it done. The day of the trip came, I went to the dealer to pick up my camper to find out it was not ready, after a 4
hour wait they bought it back and they were not complete with half of the stuff, and I realized that during the time they had it they taped a tarp over the roof, but while doing this they place duct tape on the gel coat and decals, and this caused it to etch the side of the trailer. Once they realized the magnitude of the work still remaining I was told it wouldn't be ready until the
following week. Therefore meaning I was spending my trip planned for my brand new camper in a hotel. I returned the following week to pick it up and was told that the sides of the camper had been fixed as well as everything else. However
under further inspection I noticed that it had not been. I also noticed a rather large scratch on the kitchen table top that was created during their repairs as well. This time I could not wait for their repairs I had a weeklong trip planned and paid for coming up in the next week. I was assured once I got back they would take care of it. While heading out on the next trip I pulled over about 2 hours into the trip to do a quick walk around and roof check. During my inspection of the roof I noticed that there was a piece of the plywood protruding upward under the rubber, and there was also a bubble about 4ft in diameter and 4 inches tall in the front right corner of the roof. I also noticed several small bubbles all the way across the roof, which where anywhere from 3 to 5 inches in diameter and about 2 to 3 inches tall. Once I noticed this I instantly contacted the dealer. During this trip we had several failures, with some of the largest being the flooring started to bubble all
over in the upper part of the camper, and started to peel back around the transitions between it and the carpet, we also had the counter tops bubble up around the sink in 2 different locations. I then took it back to the dealer and I was told
it would be 4 weeks before it would be ready to go. This was a problem because I once again had a place it was scheduled to go in a month. It has since been 4 weeks, and I was notified today that my counter tops were still 5 days out, and
it would not be until late this week or early next week before they would get it in. I will be canceling this trip, because I cannot afford to continue paying the payment on the camper while it sits in the shop, as well as storage in which it has only seen for two weeks before I took it out on the first trip, and pay for a hotel for my trips. I have called countless times to both Forrest
River, as well as the shop to express my concern with constantly cancelling trips and them not being able to deliver the camper within a timely manner of a month, and I was met with push back and that problems like this happen. I don't
believe that everyone that purchases a new trailer has this many issues or people would stop buying them. I have spent a lot of my time contacting the dealer, and taking off work to get it in and out of the shop. My wife told me today that we were better off before purchasing this camper, and that is the truth. It should not be this hard to own a camper. I need help getting through to both Forrest River, and the Dealer, Fun Town RV in Cleburne, TX that I need assistance in getting this resolved. I would appreciate any and all the help I can get with this.

Here at Fun Town, we strive to fulfill all our customer’s needs and make sure they receive a quality product from us at a very competitive price. Providing excellent customer service is not something we do because it sells more trailers. It is simply the right thing to do. Therefore, we welcome every opportunity to make things right with each and every customer.

First and foremost, I would like to offer my apology for the frustrations you and your family has had in keeping your new trailer properly serviced and maintained. Thank you for sharing your experiences and the opportunity to resolve these, as well as any other, issues with your RV.

Our records reflect the following repairs have been completed. Please review and let me know if any were not done to your complete satisfaction. Of course, if there are any problems with your RV not listed, I welcome the opportunity to resolve them as well.

  1. Roof material peeling back - Rubber roof and decking completely replaced.
  2. Taping tarp caused etching to exterior of trailer – Taping the tarp was essential to preserve the trailer from leaks during the rainy season; all affected decals were replaced.
  3. Large scratch on kitchen tabletop - Kitchen tabletop replaced.
  4. Piece of plywood protruding upward under roof rubber - Loose decking, mushroom vent installed to ensure decking remains solidly bound to roof.
  5. Bubble 4 feet in diameter and other smaller bubbles – No problem found; small bubbles and wrinkles are normal in EPDM rubber roofs.
  6. Floor bubbling up and peeling - Linoleum was removed and reinstalled with adhesive.
  7. Countertop bubbling up - Countertop replaced.

According to our records, all repairs were completed in mid March 2013.

Pursuant to our efforts to make things right, we requested and obtained Forest River’s authorization to extend your warranty an additional 12-months.

Attempts to reach you by phone have not been successful but I welcome a call from you in order that we may work through any issues that exist currently. I am typically in the office Monday through Saturday, 9-6.

Sincerely,

David Kidd

I did find the above report to be extremely useful and very informative. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me some insight into ways to address this. I have reached out to Gary Meyers today, and left a message. I will give some insight as to what that company does for me.

Update on the repairs;

I was notified today by the repair facility that they are still waiting on parts I believe this will put us at 6 weeks since the day I dropped it off. However the solution is going to be they will finish repairs on all other parts for stuff they can source locally and I will have the new counter tops installed at a later date when I can drop it back off. It is still an extremely slow process in which I am not used to.

Talked to Mr Gary Meyers? He is the warranty Rep for that brand.

Be careful! He is just a paper pusher and will need to champion your case to management.

Phone him @ 574-534-4058

Ask him to return your unit to the factory for repair, give him a complete list of the LEGITIMATE faults on your unit. Do not include everything you have been upset about in the past, just what needs repair or has not been repaired yet.

Once you have a rapport establised, write a letter to him direct and ask for a 1 year extension for your warranty.

The factory repairs will take several months there and back, but the new trailer you bought will be the trailer you get from the factory.

If you upset this fellow, who will try his best to help you, Hire a lawyer.
