Furniture Store FINANCING NIGHTMARE Brooklyn New York
I bought a bed from the Furniture Store. They promised interest free financing in 3 easy payments with one time charge of 3%. I gave downpayment and debit card number for the charges. The only document I was given was handwritten note on the sales receipt specifying the condition of payoff - $900, 3 months, 3%fee. I was assured that it was THAT SIMPLE.
I was led to believe that the store will charge me in 3 equal amounts of $300 over period of 3 month. After all, they got extra 3%.
The payments started to be charged in smaller amounts from PROGRESSIVE FINANCIAL OF UTAH. I expected to pay and simply watched for a while.. After a few months, it became routine. And then I realized that it has been too many payments. I did the math and realized that on $900 balance they charged me over $1200.
I went back to the store to speak to the salesman.. At first, he knew nothing, remembered nothing. After an somewhat heated conversation he accused me of NOT paying attention and that it is all my fault. I asked for papers, contract, something... Guess what, he no longer had any records but offered to contact the financing company to request information for me.
I changed my card number to stop the debit collection. All I received from Progressive Finance Holdings, LLC was a payment schedule and to my shock... $1467.40 starting balance.
Upon receiving the papers, I called Progressive. Conversation turned nasty. I was told that "WE OWN your bed", "WE WILL come to your home and take it away because WE bought your bed"
I was a fool to trust the FURNITURE STORE, the salesman. I was a fool to assume that people do honest and decent business.
I am collecting all the information for the small claims court with a help of a friend. I will not rest until I get all the answers and get my money back.
