Every engine problem is "fixable." If they have to, they could replace the whole engine with a new one. And they must if it comes to that, because it is under the new-car warranty. You have a case under the "lemon law."

I would suggest contacting the finance company who is the lease holder. They may have more luck with the dealer at getting you in another vehicle. If not then i would suggest contacting a lawyer and attorney general. Even with the lemon law they should have given you an indetical Compass and taken care of the paperwork.

There are no recalls, TSB's or other common problems with your vehicle. What is the exact nature of the problem ?

Usually a Lemon Law will specify 3 failed attempts to repair the same problem, but "unrepairable" may superceed that. Why cannot your dealer simply *replace* your motor with a short block (or long block) obtained from Daimler Chrysler Corp under warranty? Me? I would not buy a Jeep. Too many problems and too many better alternatives.

Jeffrey, Thanks for sharing your story. I am currently looking at buying a new Jeep and had been to Galeana a couple of times and was planning to buy from them. I had been a little hesitant, because when I asked the sales manager about how they handle severe mechanical problems on new cars, he kept referring to the manufacturer warranty. I was looking for more of what the dealership would do. I guess now I know how they handle such issues. I'll probably go to the dealer in Punta Gorda instead. Good luck with your issue, and please post as to how things worked out.
