Something similar happened to me that happened to someone else that lodged their rip-off complaint here.

A telemarketing company contacted (thick Indian accent, and very hard to understand) me about a free phone card with 5,000 minutes on it. Several times during the conversation the telemarketer mentioned that she was NOT asking for my credit card information. I accepted the offer, but stated plainly (even for the "can we record your acceptance of this offer") that I was accepted on the basis that they were NOT asking for any credit card information.

When the "free phone card" arrived, it mentioned that I would be billed for the "subscription" until I cancelled. So, I called the company, and they told me (more than once, because I asked three times to be sure) that they did NOT have my credit card information.

Well, lo and behold, a $60.88 charge shows up on my bill from "Direct Billing" in Las Vegas, NV. I called them to find out where the charge came from, and they told me it was Galway Telecommunications. I explained that they were NOT authorized to charge my credit card, and Direct Billing put in for a refund (I'll keep my eyes out for it).

I called the company to complain, and to try to find out how they got my credit card number. They kept saying how they have different companies that do their telemarketing, and they really can't tell me.

I have also lodged a complaint with the California Attorney General's office about this issue. Because, I never gave them the number, and I certainly never authorized them to charge me credit card. I don't know about California, but where I come from I believe they call that credit card fraud.

Stay away from offers from Galway Telecommunications, even if they tell you they don't have your credit card number. If you've had them charge you without your authorization, please lodge a complaint with the proper authorities. This company uses illegal tactics to charge unsuspecting consumers, and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Galway Telecommunications is Direct One

Just a note for all, Galway Telecommunications is the new name of Direct One. Many reports here already for Direct One, I suggest everyone read them. My wife and I have been working on getting our money back for over 7 months now. We never signed up with Direct One, yet they charged us. We were able to get a fax number if that helps any of you. (714)544-9795 Also tried different digits in the last 2 number to see were they lead. Well, (714) 544-9797 lead to Golden Voice Communications whom ever that is. I can't believe the Government lets these companies get away with this. It's no different than breaking into your house and stealing something. Well, good luck to all of you who try to get your money back. I did submit a complaint to the State Attorney General's office. The Attorney General of Oregon interevened and ordered Direct One to pay back all his citizens and fined Driect One an additional $35,000.
