I rented an Apartment at 408 W. 36th Street in Manhattan for 3 College students who had a summer internship. I paid 3 months rent and a $4000 security deposit up front. When we moved out the apartment was cleaner than when we moved in and I was told by the apartment manager, Christine (917-685-3767), that I would get the entire $4000 back in 3-4 weeks. When the money did not come I contacted Christine and John (Maintenance Mgr 917-407-1706). At first they told me I would get the money then they stopped answering their phones. An email to
aganyc@aol replied to me that I would get my money soon. Then a later email stated that I sublet the apartment and it was not their issue. I have the cashier's check made out to Gamma, LLC but it is very difficult to find anyone to contact. They are very slippery and hard to pin down with any true names or valid contact numbers. That is what makes it difficult to file a claim. I have filed a claim with the NY attorney general's office but I am not optimistic. See rip-off report 973074 and it is very similar to mine.
If you are looking for a place for college students to rent this summer do not rent from these people. They will lie to you and rip you off.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY OR AT THIS BUILDING. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF, AND THEN NEVER RESPOND.
