Gary Blonder walked into our office on January 18, wanting to buy our 2007 Hyundai Azera for sale.  He made an offer which we accepted.  We wrote a bill of sale with his deposit of $100 and a written promise to pay for the vehicle.  He said repeatedly, "we do this all the time."  He had gone to his car (a red ford 500 which we learned was not a registered vehicle) and retrieved a formal looking business attache.  He brought out official documents including a bill of sale.

Blonder wanted to take the car.  Foolishly, I trusted him, had wanted our organization to have no more liability of car and insurance payments.  I let him take the car. I called him on his cell phone, told him I wanted the car back and he refused to bring it back.  He told me that it was too late, he had driven it to an auto repair place in Davie.  He didn't know the name of it, though "we do it all the time" he again said.

I called the police.  A Boynton Beach police officer came by said that with a bill of sale, he could not call it theft.  He did call Blonder and Blonder told him he would fax me a copy of his insurance the next day.  He did not.  For over a week, I received nothing.   Then, he emailed me a handwritten statement of of a non existent insurance carrier (or one that was not apparently listed as an improved carrier in Florida).

Blonder called me numerous times, wanting me to sign over a power of attorney.  I refused.  I referred him to my attorney, an advisory board member, Joel Feldman.  Feldman researched Blonder on the internet and found that Blonder has a history of fraud from Connecticut to Florida.  He asked Blonder to send him more information.  Blonder sent him the same scribble he sent me earlier.  He also forwarded a copy of a template for an auto dealer finance agreement.

Blonder has not responded to Feldman since February.  He has not contacted myself or the Toby Center.  We did get a phone number for the auto body Blonder finally said he brought the Hyundai to.  The contact there was Jamie, 954-791-3520.  I called for him on January 18, spoke with a woman who, after my earnest questioning of her, finally said that the auto body was located at 5353  S. State Road 7.  She said she would give James the message.  He called for me the next day at 7am but wouldn't return my calls since then.

We are of the belief that Blonder took the car to be dismantled or have the VIN replaced. We also believe he had no intention of paying for the car.

We have been advised that our only recourse may be civil lawsuit, but making proper delivery of the court orders for appearance would be difficult.  He provided several different addresses and used a corporate name, World Group on the bill of sale.  World Group is no longer registered in the State of Florida.

Beware of Gary Blonder.  Beware of any auto body located at the address above in Davie.

I am writing to report that World Group Inc is a legitimate corporation, currently active in the State of Florida.  I was confused in communication with Mr. Blonder when I thought I had noted World Automotive Group which is not an active corporation in Florida according to SunBiz, the State of Florida website.

I apologize for any inconvenience and misleading information with respect to the corporate name of
World Group.

Thank you.

I wish to withdraw my complaint against Mr. Gary Blonder who I spoke on April 20.  It appears that my our dealings with him are based on our misunderstanding of his intent.

I am confident that our sale to Mr. Blonder will be completed shortly.

My apologies to Mr. Blonder for this misunderstanding.
